Watched the first 5 eps. This is entertaining to the max. Enjoying the stylishness of the production. Ricky Chan's expressions are priceless! Highly recommended.

I've been dropping most k-dramas lately, but this one's definitely a keeper. A meaningful drama, great acting, good vibes.

At ep 4, there's more emphasis on action and fight scenes than plot and character depth. Thinking of dropping. Yang Xu Wen is pretty wooden in his role. Some of the antagonists are so obnoxious (Zhao Zun) I don't really want to see more of them.

I'm at ep 21 and finding this drama very high quality and entertaining. The historical background viewed through individual characters is very satisfying to me. I'm watching more for the history and less for the romance. Both first 2 stories focus on how the MCs slowly bind through shared values.

Loving the 2nd story arc better. Mr Yang character is so well written, terrible but funny at the same time. In the first story the antagonists are (understandably, due to context) such beasts that it was more stressful to watch.

Tong Yao is an absolutely fantastic actor, pls watch her Tender Light. Liu Yi Jun, also always great. In short, if you're mainly looking for romance, both first 2 story arcs are very slow burn.

Domestic popularity in an entirely different story.
WDBTD is not among to 20 most popular for 2025.

This Thriving Land most popular, then Double Track Puzzle, then Footprints of Change.

If someone is interested in what the chinese domestic TV audience values, these are an entirely different genre.

around ep 24 this gets pretty tiresome with the constant twists and threats to the mains. too few peaceful moments. imo. 10 eps shorter would have been better (am currently at ep 29, watching from Viki, glad there's a 4 day break before the next ep drops).

Solidly gripping. Strong performances all around, whether as leads or support roles. A crime thriller with a heartening…

I made a list because c-noir dramas typically each have less than 500 watchers here https://mydramalist.com/list/Lp6QvXR4

I've seen the French original, hence I know how it ends, which leaves no interest to watch. I gave it a try, it's been too long since JDY's last drama. He's very good again, in this. But this isn't really anything very special. Typical murder investigation drama. I'm sure it will be watchable for those who have not seen the original. But if you'd happen be looking for something of higher quality, more touching and more original, most of the Chinese Light On series crime dramas are eons better, imo.

Really a hidden gem. High quality throughout. This turned out to be so much more than a whodunnit murder investigation. The twists and turns are awesome. Sad but beautiful. I cried during the last 4 episodes. Not because it was depressing, but because of how genuinely good hearted people can turn around the fate of abused and neglected children. There's redemption in the end. Highly recommend. The OST of the year (hope they publish it).
