ep 4 was pretty morbid. Is there any philosophy behind this or is it just cheap thrills from the bottom of the barrel, we'll see next week. I am already doubtful.
tintin92 is so butthurt that not everyone is crazy about her favorite drama that she and her friends are making…
People who want to take charge of a drama comment section are irritating to the max. This IS a boring pretentious drama. I don't know what the domestic audience thinks but to me this is an undeniable truth. The director is responsible, regarding the pretentiousness, not NGM (he really should know better than make those promises, once again). I don't get why people try to deny the way all actors TALK in this very artificial manner.
I do agree that by episode 7 there is a buildup of irritating characters, particularly Jaein, and I particularly…
you must be honest and ask yourself, how much time did the drama spend on that situation as compared to the disgusting characters and sideplots? Are you really feeling the ML's pain? In theory falling in love with a terminal patient is the focus, in practice it isn't.
I'm enjoying this a lot. What a great cast! And the story is so good! Low key funny, not in-your-face-forced-funny. You get all the best veteran actors and the extremely immersed and charismatic Yang Se Jong! The return of Bubblegum Uncle as a bonus!
Too much metanarration dropped the foundation for enjoyment away. Why have great historical costumes, settings and spend money just to constantly underline it's all in a cartoon? The first episodes were real fun. But when the other prince arrived, everything went downhill and became draggy and stressful. From then on this was trope after trope after trope. Ok Taecyeon and Seo Hyun were great in their roles, and I hope both get better scripts in the future. Taecyeon was dreamy handsome and totally sweet and swoonworthy, and the main reason I watched until the end. 7/10.
In my view this would have required much more time for the FL & ML relationship development. Too many subplots, too many unpleasant characters makes for a less enjoyable viewing experience. The media and gossip machinery plot is of course very realistic. But I'd like to have just lingered more on the filming sites and the bookstore. Also, we'd need to know more about the original film's plot. I can't say I've enjoyed watching this drama after the first 3 episodes. NKM is still concrete at ep 10. He built a role well but I'm not finding his withdrawn character at all sympathetic. A man in love should be a little more messy or foolish. But this is what the director wanted, a very stronghanded director I must say. Things that irritate me: FL's initial childishness - just came across as somewhat manic and hysterical. The way EVERYONE talks in the same halting manner. Drop....their...lines....with...long...breaks....between....every word...and....sentence. I've landed from 9.0 to 6.0. Will finish just bc I've come too far to drop.
I personally really enjoyed this one but I haven't watched that many Light On series.About the rating, I wouldn't…
Thanks for the response. I didn't know about Bai Jing Ting's popularity. That explains the higher viewer amount. Very true that the ratings of Light On dramas deserve to be much higher in general and that this drama's rating is well deserved from that perspective. Personally I tend to look forward to veteran actors performances the most (as they're frequently simply stunning).
I do agree with you in some degree. I also think is a matter of taste and how many similar dramas you have seen…
I agree it's also a matter of taste. The Long Season ending was very touching, imo. Great drama. I also enjoyed Thirteen Years of Dust and Let Wind Goes By immensely. I did enjoy even The Pavilion, and Crimson River quite a lot actually (I don't mind the low ratings), actually even more than Justifiable Defense.
It's a mystery to me why this drama is so highly rated and popular compared to the earlier Light On series dramas that are way more ambitious (and mostly rated 7.5 max with under 500 viewers). This is just an okay drama which is kind of lost in repetition. Circling around the question of how to define and measure what counts as justified defense. This is 7.0 max to me. I'm currently watching Tender Light, which is arthouse level and a masterpiece. If anyone is curious of what the heck I'm talking about, I made a list: https://mydramalist.com/list/Lp6QvXR4
Anyone make clips of Go Jun yet? The sightings are too few.
