spoilers ahead: I just finished the first 4 episodes, and all I have to say is that zhao lusi's performance is amazing! her acting feels so natural, and you're never confused about her character at any moment. she portrays xu yan really well, especially the micro-expressions, just wow. also, xu yan's family pisses me off. at first, I thought the sister didn't know how unfairly their parents treated xu yan, but it seems like she just doesn't care. like, idk why she's mad xu yan changed her last name, like their parents literally abandoned her, and the stupid dad tried to stop her from getting a college education. not to mention, xu yan almost died because her dad forgot about her during the gas leak scene. is the sister being serious? why is she genuinely confused that xu yan sort of cut ties with them? xu yan's family is already stressing me out because i know they're gonna get xu yan in trouble one way or another. also so far in the first 4 eps, we saw snippets of the male leads character, i'm interested to see how his character develops, because in the trailer he looked like he knew that xu yan was lying and he was just playing along. overall, i'm really excited to watch the rest of this drama.
watching the first 5 mins of ep 1 and damn she left no loopholes in her elaborate lie. omg i'm excited to see how it goes, kinda wish her lies aren't unraveled.
3rd time tryna watch this, i always give up at like ep 10. its not bad and the story is pretty interesting in my opinion, i just don't know why i can't finish it 🙏🏽.
how is the Romance here ? passionate? slowburn? not significant?
its slow burnish, like they get together halfway through but we still get to see their relationship develop more. its not a really important plot factor, its more on the side.
on episode 11 and the guqin competition was done so well, it made me cry. she's literally pouring all her blood, sweat, and tears 😞💔. i hope shen yurong and his family suffer so badly, hate them losers. i can see why this is such a popular show, loving it so far. aslo, duke su is so 😍😍, AND he's already so down bad, love him.
just finished ep 19, and i have a few comments. i don’t like hua jing, the first aunt, and yeah what she did to aunt qing and tried to do to fudong was disgusting and very much not ok at all. like i hate her a lot but i also don’t like how they handled her abuse story. she herself is an abuser but she’s also a victim too. i don’t like how they let her abusive husband get away without facing consequences. also if i remember correctly she came to their house a couple times with bruises but no one ever stepped up and like tried to intervene in the situation. yes she is wrong but it’s a very complicated situation and needed to be written with more care.
on ep 5 rn its ok imo cus the show is still setting things up and all, but i feel like it's one of those dramas that get better. although i will say the father is pissing me off rn. like how are you gonna ignore your daughter and not check in on her for the past 10 years? then he goes on to have the audacity to grieve jiang li's mother when he has like 3 wives and many concubines... also, does nobody find the whole situation with the "accident" strange?
hmm interesting.. you complain about barely see wuzhen, did u skip from episode 1 and jump straight to ep 16-17?…
i actually didn't skip episodes. i actually like the drama, but i had some critiques. as you said yourself i am biased towards the fl so i obvi wanna see more of her.
trigger warning: opinions!!!! spoiler: it started out good but like we kind of lost the plot in a sense and there's quite a bit of plot holes. like how come they sense magic and demons sometimes but not other times? how come they don't sense each others powers and like supernatural presence? is it explained in the novel? i started this drama because of the fl, and sometimes i feel like we barely see her in the eps. in some episodes she will appear in like the later half of the episode, after the side characters and all. to me sometimes it feels like the ml is more of the main character in a way. also disappointed we don't get to see her fight as much as the ml. granted i am very obviously biased and i love the fl's character more. although as much as i like the show episodes 15,16, and 17 were kind of written badly😭😭. a new plot line was revealed but it lwky feels like even the writers don't know where this is headed. it's just all over the place currently.
so far its kind of on the slower side, but it's not boring. like the ml's character, he's so gone for the fl already. also the fan service has me weak, the directors really want us to see the mls bare chest at least once an episode 😭. not complaining tho, not complaining at all 🙏🏽. the fl's character is also rlly likeable, she's direct and kind of strict, which make sense since she spent most of her life on battle fields. lowkey excited to see how she opens up and how the mc's relationship develops. tho i wonder if we will get into how the general found her and her past?
