I forgot WLGYT was episodic, thanks. Netflix also releases their original variety & sports programs over time. But I think they've given up on splitting seasons into two parts (or at least I hope so!)

You have a point. An unproven writer really can't protest when the production makes changes to their script—especially when the TV network (MBC) partners with a global corporation like Disney with its own committees of script doctors, product placement agents, social media strategists, etc.

I try to forget all of that while watching, so I can immerse myself in the story. I am very happy to be able to immerse myself in this and enjoy it! And I'm glad I can because sometimes I can't. I'm sorry that you are unable to do so! But I get it.

So it seems, yes. But some commenters have posted they aren't so sure and think there may be more to the story about the palace fire and his death which have yet to be revealed.

If only there was a way to find out everything that happens in this drama but without having to watch! I bet you could enjoy this story if it was a book!

Disney could release all the episodes of this simultaneously if they wanted to. (But they won't.) Netflix releases their original K-dramas all at once. It's only when they partner with a local network that they must wait to release episodes after they first are broadcast in SK. Why does Disney choose to drag this out?

OK then blame a production intern for the movie/series poster error.

That makes me think that they filmed a series, but it sucked, so they edited it down to movie length and it's better.

Evil? There is a magnitude of difference between clueless, lazy, inconsiderate, selfish… and evil!

I agree we will be seeing more of the FL's father and their head-butting will resolve one way or the other. But I continue to be surprised that others see him getting a redemption arc. I don't see it, myself. If it happens I'll go with it. If his daughter can forgive him I can too.

But His actions in ep 6 still seem self-serving to me. I think he sees his kids as extensions of himself and treats them like property. Just because he doesn't want someone else to criticize his daughter doesn't mean he loves her. He could be merely defending his own name, legacy, honor, & business.

I totally respect your own take and wouldn't want to suppress your perspective! There is room for criticism.

For example, that this is the writers first script also means she is inexperienced. And it's been alleged that many changes were made to the script since production began. So perhaps there could be situation where the project suffers from 1) inexperience and/or 2) having "too many cooks in the kitchen".

And Just because Disney got involved doesn't ensure success. They come to SK for scripts & series &/or production partnerships because they can't do this on their own! That said, the domestic ratings on MBC are doing quite well and its reported that this is the most successful K-Drama ever released by Disney.

Anyway, once the sugar high wears off, I suspect many (including myself) will revisit our initial reactions. Personally, I'm not sure this drama will have a very high rewatch value for me. 🤷🏻‍♂️

No worries. I'm sorry for making a big deal of it. Like most people, I had already guessed as much. It's pretty obvious.

Whenever the writer is excluded from being listed in the Cast section is never a good sign. This was either written by committee (or AI), or the director is just making it up as he goes! And this is only his second drama.

I watched the first 2 episodes. It's obvious the two main leads are especially rude to each other to provide contrast to later, when they become a couple. And the villagers are especially self-centered & obtuse to provide contrast to later, when they become kind & endearing. But it all seems a bit heavy-handed to me. I'll leave this in my watchlist for now, but I remain unsure whether I'll resume watching when ep 3 is released, put this on hold in case of boredom, or drop it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I really enjoyed this! The ending made me laugh. And it leaves a warm afterglow.

Also, what was the humorous book that the ML's wife and daughter were reading? I didn't catch the reference. Thanks in advance!

I haven't resumed watching since the ML died. I'm unsure when or if I'll pick this up again, so I'm putting this 'on hold' in my watchlist.
