I doubt they'll have sensibility enough to not use this as just a plot device. Observing the writer I'd say she'll put hjp living with grandma in the end so she would be busy having someone to take care and that's the happy ending.

He deserved a round story line to respect his importance to the history but he'll just be left heart broken and without a family...

It's pretty clear for the way they missed each other and how she hold NDS's jacket that HJP is the third wheel…
That's one of the things that hurt more. Hjp can't stay happy with his family after nds join, they really don't stand each other
