In Chinese, relationships are often like that ... I am an aunt of people who are much older than me.
It doesn't have to be a large family. You can refer to the book for more information.
This is how it works as an example: My dad, who marries late, was much younger than my uncle, who married early. My uncle had a son who also married early. So the son's son calls me aunt even though he's 10 years older than me.
In Chinese families, the relationship is very hierarchical ... we don't call these people cousins. We actually call them uncles/aunts. Unfortunately, I also became a great aunt ... feeling so old!
MDL doesn’t use straight averages. They have an “algorithm” they use that takes into account more than “fan…
That makes sense too!! I've seen weird numbers. And it is very frustrating.
I do believe the rating works based on the pure numbers of rating too. However, fishy accounts exist. Even Douban had to shutdown the rating of some dramas because they need tovalidate the accounts for rating.
Yesterday - 392 people voted, rating 7.6 Today - 417 people voted, rating 7.7
So I think it works if the people who actually watch the drama vote early. A lot of people who watch this drama are not like those fans who dedicated themselves to make sure the rating high for their idols. They more likely to be conservatives who want to wait for the drama to end and vote authentically.
I am one of those who rate early. I will change my rating if the drama doesn't work out.

It is a great drama. And it's unfortunate people rated drama low because they don't like the actress or actor. I see people who are not anti fans but even though they don't like the actress, they still try the drama because of the actor. Then they dropped the drama after a few episodes and rate it low.
I feel that it's more effective to get more people to rate the drama. There's got be more than 400 XK and Seven…
I think this is fine too ... it is the viewer's choice. But the problem I see is that fans of actors/actresses complaining about rating. The rating is based on the number of people rated. A lot of younger idols have very energetic fans. They can keep the rating high because they voted.
Another problem with the rating: episode 1 9.4/10 from 28 users Jul 02, 2024 Only 28 people voted compared to the overall rating : 400 people rated ... so the rating of 400 people is going to take control of the rating.
Episode Rating Steps: 1) Click Episode Guide 2) click your rating 3) click Write a review 4) You don't need to write a review when get to the next screen. Just click save ... this will actually save the rating.

When the fan base of an actor/actress is strong, I see everyone puts in the time to do the rating and write a review. So far there are only 400 votes. That means that the fans watching this show is either low or they are not voting compared to the people who don't like drama.
I've been following Xu Kai for a long time and almost each drama I have watched of his, the haters start bombarding…
I feel that it's more effective to get more people to rate the drama. There's got be more than 400 XK and Seven fans here ... and yet, I am not seeing that number of people in the rating.
For those who are confused about the rating, I am going to try explain:
Please keep in mind the math of rating : "To calculate the review rating, businesses need to collect all the individual ratings and sum them up. Then, they divide the sum by the total number of ratings to obtain the average rating.
Even though the episode ratings are HIGH, there are only 20-28 people are rating them. If you want to see the rating higher, all people who are watching this drama need to rate each episode; otherwise, the overall rating will take precedent.
Currently, the 7.6/10 is from 393 users (yesterday was 8.0 from 200+ viewers) What this is telling me is that some users are dropping the drama ... they just watch a few episodes and dropping them and ranked this drama low.
The best thing is to enjoy the drama. And wait for the end to know the real result. If you really care about the rating, then everyone needs to remember to rate everyday.
This is NOT MY COMPLAINTs ...it's some one else. I just want to reiterate that they should NOT be complaining!
I just want to share a personal opinion because I saw this complaint in some comments: "this actress is not fit to play that role"... etc ... Unfortunately, we don't have a choice. It's based on the producers of the drama. The only choice we have is to not watch the drama with the person we don't like in it. Complaining about this is valid but just wasting time.
I think that if you don't enjoy an actress' expression/styling/etc ... , it's best not to watch her dramas because they are going to be similar in other dramas too. She's a human playing the same career woman role over and over ... Chinese dramas are not like Korean or Hollywood dramas that can have an actress playing a drug addict or abused victim. Chinese drama is very limited and typecasted. They are also censored.
Even the best actresses who won academy awards have similar expressions. That's why they need to take a break so people can forget their face and expressions.
Seven, as I have read the book, fits this role. And yes, she does have similar expressions if in similar situations. So I suggest if you don't like her, don't watch dramas with her in it. I stopped watching dramas with actresses I don't like.
You dropped this because you are confused and you don't like the FL? First, the FL is a complex character, and…
I was not confused. I figured it out by ep 11 all the relationships and can predict what will happen. I also read part of the novel ... My issue with this drama: 1) The story / their relationship is boring and repetitive after ep 12, I cannot take the repetitions any more. 2) The actress' expressions are too modern and not fitting the historical drama ... for example, she tends to flick her face/chin at him ... and that gets on my nerves by ep 12.
Yes, I agree we all have our preferences. Once we notice a fault in the actors/actresses, it's tough to finish the drama.
I don't recommend watching ABAY as it is mainly a Seven's specialty. I like her acting so it's bearable for me. Plus I read the book and the FL is very similar to Seven.
I don't enjoy XK's acting except for one drama a long time ago. However, in ABAY, he fits the role. I also like Lusi so I am waiting for Love's Ambition.
The past few episodes have been focused on setting up her startup ... while this is her characterization, the novel as well as the drama, it could be less focused. I think the drama could have done more to make the scenarios less boring and contrived. This is more of the director problems. If I have to put a rating on 4-8, I would give them 8.0 - this is purely on the fact that the dramatization is not smooth and natural... more like hiccups here and there trying to rush things to compact them into nice packages. I wish that they would just focus on 1 or 2 events and give details and authencity to them.
The next episodes will be better as the setting is more established and we will see more of the leads together.
Thank you. Eventually she will break away to form her own company ... I think she's feeling the pressure to save…
Well he's not really a cheater . He breaks with her first before pursuing another girl ... he just doesn't fit her lifestyle. He needs a wife who spends time with him. She cannot because of her career. The other girl is more supportive and can be with him. This is why HT is better for her. He has his own life and can be left alone while she works on her dreams.
