I was hoping for an entire episode too and I too knew they wouldn't! *sigh* The reason why they went with the script within a script approach is due to censorship. China has some very strict rules about time travel in dramas. Since I was apprehensive about a BE, I am glad with the conclusion of the drama. Tbh, this drama left me wanting for more which is ironic because before I started the show, I assumed it'd be full of fillers. I'd say this is one of the better paced dramas. I had a really good time. For me, watching dramas is cathartic (a way to vicariously live through the characters) which is why I identified so hard with SXY being desperate not to leave. In the modern world she was all by herself, an orphan with no family. Within the story, she had a loving family and a husband. ADWAD has indeed been a beautiful respite from real life chaos.

I held out hope for 2-3 years and then gave up. I remember checking the page for season 02 for updates every now and then. *sigh*

It has been done in some other dramas. Having said that, I'd love a season 2. NH and SXY were hilarious together in the historical world, they'd be more so in the modern world with SXY being in her element, happily chaotic, and NH still being the saner of the two. 😏
