I'm curious, what made you think sanghyeon is competitive? Was it any specific action or his approach to "courting"…
This tracks and thanks for explaining your thought process. I'm leaning towards he liked bonhee and it has to do with the competition but not exactly: he "pursued" her despite knowing she would most likely choose mujin and he seemed the most charmed he's ever looked during their date. on the other hand, if he was thinking about the whole game as a competition, he would have chosen sohyun sooner since he was her only choice and she made her preference pretty clear. That's why I was so buffled by his behaviour; if he wanted to win the Game, he would have paired up with sohyun, if he wanted to win bonhee, he would have made an effort. He did neither, which made for great tv, but so inconsistent.
Also, it surprises me that all he talked to bonhee about was that he wanted to date her. He didn't ask a single question about her (at least in what we were shown), how do you like someone while only talking about your relationship shortcomings? The overthinking vs lack of proactivity you mentioned is a very good point and perfectly illustrates why it took him so long.
And personally, I don't think there's anything to his relationship with sohyun in the real world. I don't see it. She's open, direct and vibrant and I would think she'd want someone to match these traits. Am I wrong? I've watched it twice and the more I observe (while ignoring the imposed production notes) the less I believe this pair.
Im on episode 8, this is the first time i have ever watched a dating reality show; im really liking this one.…

Omg yesss, me tooo!!! Nagatan was SUCH an unexpectedly delightful watch for me! I was not expecting to love it…
What?? No, I wasn't even looking cause i've made my peace with jdramas having a single season and I was okay with how it ended. it was hopeful and wholesome. but i'm going to be watching season 2 for sure!
**An honorable mention and a possible addition to the list: *Sniper Butterfly*.**This drama features a *noona…
I finished it recently and I would recommend it to everyone! As stated, I'm not sure it fits in this list cause of the way it's told, but regardless it was one of the few second chance romances that I wholeheartedly believed.
i love mad doctor. i was going through berant zhu's works, and the moment i saw the poster for mad doctor, i literally…
Is he famous? What else did you like of his? I am not as knowledgeable in taiwanese dramas, I've watched a mere handful. But I love this dynamic, especially on mad doctor. what a fun ride.

Nagatan to Aoto: Ichika no Ryori Cho was so good! unexpectedly, it became a comfort show for me. the traditional/western fusion cuisine was a joy to watch and every plate served a purpose within the plot. it felt like a modern story told in a period setting
