quite average, but a good average
I didn't feel like writing a review but I saw too many 10/10 as well as 5/10 so I thought it'd be nice to give an opinion as a 7, an average. This a very romantic drama, the good thing about it is that it gives a little bit of comedy as well as drama and action and plot twists.
However, outside of the main leads, the other storylines kind of feel rushed, the second leads did get screentime for once, but at what cost ? It feels like they were used as the tragedy element in order for the main leads to get a full happy ending. To be honest, it could have worked well but it was just poorly executed.
Apart from the second leads development (that started so well by the way), this drama was actually so enjoyable, the boy squad was so chaotic and Seo Dan is so so gorgeous.
I'll probably rewatch someday but it had no business being this long (maybe putting the ending scene of each episode at the start of the next didn't help...)

I was watching, and then I started crying
70 year old and a dream.Deokchul is the cutest 70 year old man I've ever seen, so cheerful, even when everything seems hopeless.. He is the most accurate/ positive elder representation I've seen in a drama so far. so passionate and thoughtful, yet it shows how he hasn't always been this optimistic, and it's decades of working hard and pushing his own personal dreams to the side in order to satisfy everyone's expectations.
as a fellow artist with many dreams that seem so far out of my reach, this drama hit deep in my core.
if you're like me, like Deokchul, like those who work at a job they don't like but can't drop because money controls what they can or can't do, like students who are not sure they're going down the right path but they are unfortunately not granted second chances, like the kids that feel like they owe success to their parents, etc...
if you need to feel like you've been heard ; this one is gonna hurt but it's gonna feel so right.
side note : I'm so glad we finally get to see Song Kang in a role that truly embraces his potential as an actor. His character is hardworking and stubborn, and I don't expect any less from a ballet dancer.

without Park Hyungsik this would have been a total flop
the concept was nice, there were some good jokes in there, and the chemistry between Park Hyungsik and Park Bo young was out of this world.HOWEVER some jokes were way too disrespectful and I think without these I would have enjoyed the show so much more. also the plot was all over the place, I kind of decided to act like some characters weren't there and completely dismissed their storylines on purpose for selfcare (the whole gang, monk, and gay stereotypes plotlines to name a few) only to find out they weren't useful for the main plot anyway.
tbh Park Hyungsik's acting made it bearable let's be real, and if it weren't for the good mood he sets everytime he's on screen I would have probably not even given episode 2 a chance.

Han Sung you will always be famous !! cries
first k drama i ever watched, originally watched for Taehyung, however the cast actually ended up holding a piece of my heart.this may not be Park Hyungsik's best acting role (his character wasn't interesting enough tho so it's understandable), but it's still so refreshing to see him on screen. for a debut role, V did so well and I hope one day we'll get to see him as a male lead. the hwarang boys were all endearing and the queen and the princess were so !!! (i love them cold). I wish Aro had actual character development instead of being in constant need of saving all the time. no I won't mention Park Seojoon, we talk about him enough <3
tbh this drama is not really meant to be that serious so if you're looking for outstanding performances you may want to pick something else, this is more of a comfort show (and by that I mean that it will make you laugh then cry then laugh etc)
the ost is so memorable! i will never forget it, it's so good and catchy!

I'm so SAD
I had seen so much potential in han so-hee in nevertheless already, but this one really made her shine to another level! ♥‿♥ so gay for herthe plot had me hooked the whole time, but I'm too sensitive for all these plot twists so whoever wrote the script I'm under your bed
oh and the acting!!!! aaahh!!! all the cast was enticing. I didn't even recognize han so-hee at first, cause her character in nevertheless actually had reasons to smile, but jiwoo can't relate I guess. ahn bo-hyun surprised me in a cool way, cause he played a bully in itaewon class so the fact that he managed to make me forget who he was means he did a great job.
will watch again when I heal from the rollercoaster this drama was ಥ‿ಥ
