I think PoJ is leaning more into historical fiction rather than wuxia

from my understanding of the dialogues, he was looking for Xie Zheng when he got accidentally conscripted, just like how the soldiers forcefully took Changyu (a wandering citizen) into forced labour for dam building. At that era they probably just took whoever they pass, especially if the people have questionable identity.

But I think the censorship on this drama is really loose (which I really like too XD) because the bath scene Qi Min is shirtless, usually in other dramas they still have a layer on, same with Yan Zheng rescuing Changyu's scene when she is shirtless, it's usually isn't so bare, so I'm glad the censorship is getting more loose these days

Yes! I don't know if the writer writes another book after Pursuit of Jade, but man, I'd love to watch a grown-up version of Bao'er and Ning Niang! How they navigate the palace life after becoming emperor and empress with the help of Qianqian, Changyu, and Yan Zheng!

So it's confirmed that Qianqian is truly a modern person who got transmigrated to the drama. Although I think it's a useless side quest, but I think it's fresh to see the main character isn't the transmigrated person, but instead, the girl best friend!

It's really warm to finally see Changyu and the Jin gang get reunited once again. I love their friendship!!!

On another note, I didn't expect Shisan Niang to care so much for Ning Niang, it actually warms my heart. I've grown to like her and hope that SYQ is still redeemable (no matte how angry I feel toward him rn for Lin'an Massacre) and hope he truly fall for Shisan niang and stop obsessing over our FCY

I really like how the director put so much care and build up Changyu's relationship with Lin'an people seriously. Because the viewers have grown fond of them, even the most annoying character like Kang Old Lady have really taken our sympathy in the end. Thus their massacre scenes have caused such heartbreak. I cried so much when Zhao Da Shu and the four henchmen were conscripted.. I cried so much more when the people were killed by SYQ.. Especially Wang Shu and Chef Li. They cared so much for FCY and Changning.. their deaths were so cruel, it was so sad. I didn't expect I would care so much for the villagers of female lead's story, and this isn't even half of the drama yet..

GREAT TO KNOW THIS! HAHA his character adds the excitement of this story oooh I can't wait for new developments!

Soooo.. SYQ won't be madly obsessed with FCY anymore? As there is Shisan Niang. Is this new girl originally in the novel?

3. Styling and make up is on point, really accentuating both leads’ beauty
4. the story is refreshing, easy to follow, and well-paced.
5. although there are not many in the beginning of the story, the fighting scenes of Changyu is so cool!!!
Overall, very satisfying to watch and up to my expectations!

About Danyin’s fate, Xiahou Dan died first, and a few decades later Wanyin died due to old age. I also found on X that there ought to be additional scenes where Danyin’s son (the future emperor) is looking at the sky while telling the story of Danyin to their granddaughter. So they left a peaceful legacy to their future generations.

I read somewhere that according to the novel, the crown prince tried to assasinate Danyin once again (in the novel he was helped by Huahua, but in the drama Huahua died early), then he was captured and stripped of all titles, sent to live normally with better guardian.

I can’t stop asserting how beautiful and mesmerizing the shots, color palette and the lighting of this drama. It’s visually pleasing and aesthetically appealing.

This drama also has similar vibes with Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, which starts with a rather comedic vibe tinted with ominous predictions, and gradually got darker and more serious. I even rather miss the cute animations at the start! But I really love how the plot thickens with political strives and how the leads are trying to make real change in the world they live in.

I had a feeling Wang would die :( he’s one of my favorite, please don’t let him die 😭 But I think there would be more deaths in the future!

from my understanding SFL is actually a 2D character, her character background is someone from the real world who transmigrates into a novel she reads (a different title from what Wanyin’s reading before she transmigrates. So the REAL 2D people are only Xiahou Dan and Wanyin who seemed to transmigrate from the same reality.

Yes! This has been my concern too since the last episode, does their timeline in the novel align with the reality? Because it seemed like Dan and Wanyin didn’t transmigrate into the novel at the same time. So Dan probably grew older in the novel without knowing how to get out, so they are probably the same age. It also proposed a theory in my head, what if Dan was actually a 2D character? Just like Xie Yong er whose character setting is someone who transmigrate to the novel, Dan is actually just like Yong er, but it wasn’t revealed until the very end, at the prologue. So Wanyin had been falling in love with a 2D character. The ending would probably make Wanyin choose to stay in the novel as Dan’s companion, or return to real life and be apart from Dan forever? Because apparently Dan isn’t her CEO in real life, just a schoolboy who transmigrated to the novel years ago.
