I don't think it was made out of the whole real painting's design. In every version of bai zi qian sun tu (百子千孙图), every kids were doing different things, that's of course.
But in the drama, it was made out of a group of kids and turn it into the same pattern. I don't know if you understand my explanation, but it's like this: there's a group of kids playing around the table in a mattress, but the right, left, up, and down has the same image, which is basically just making that "kids playing around the table" a pattern, which no painting would do that.
Maybe that "kids playing around the table" was taken from a section of a painting. However it's still difficult to trace since there's so many version.
