tbh i thought their breakup would be more dragged out and tedious to get through. like i thought it would be jiang mu continually chasing after jin zhao and him pretending not to love her anymore all the way until the last or second to last episode. fortunately my prediction was wrong lol

also, i have to say, the scenes with ai and her dad are particularly heartbreaking because of lookmhee's performance. she truly is an incredible actress

as i rewatch, i am even more convinced that ai's dad's redemption arc is just ridiculous. abusers like that man do not change, and i think it's harmful to push the narrative that they can. like mae's dad is not without faults, but i can believe that he genuinely loves his daughter, even if he is not always the greatest father. but ai's dad suddenly having love for a daughter he's spent the whole season hitting and insulting is not realistic to me

on episode 6 and although i love the female lead, i despise the way the king's concubine is written. it's almost 2026- haven't we progressed past these shallow depictions of scheming, jealous women? out of all the potential antagonists in this show, the fourth junior consort gets the most screen time, yet has absolutely no depth as a character. i hope the next episodes either feature her a lot less, or at least offer some explanation as to why she is the way she is

just finished episode 11 and wow am i losing interest. this drama was great at first but now it's become one of the most predictable series i've ever seen. even for a miniseries. and the female lead, who i loved at first, has become absolutely insufferable. and this story is full of holes. ugh
