There’s actually something in psychology called confirmation bias you can look it up, it’s really interesting. It explains how our brains naturally seek consistency, so once we form a belief(especially one tied to emotions or moral judgment) our brain tends to filter new information in a way that confirms what we already think. so the brain will always value coherence over constant re evaluation

i agree, someone like him, so strategic and calculating, would never allow a loose cannon like her to move freely, especially when her recklessness not only endangers his goals but also puts her life at risk. It just doesn’t make sense within the logic of his character

I'm already watching it. It took me a few episodes to really get into it, and now I really like it 😊. I'm also watching The Princess Gambit, which is ok, i thought the story would be better written but it is ok

Her understanding of the plot and characters is filtered through what she knows of the story and characters, and when someone believes they're absolutely right, they start twisting reality to fit their narrative without even realising it, so she literally can't see his point of view. Remember the character from the script and the person she met when he tried to kill her; she is unable to see past that. But obviously, through his masked alter ego, she will get to know him. We are now like she was when reading the story and getting frustrated with the heroine being blind to reality; we are seeing her now as she was seeing the heroine in episode 1 😅

Unfortunately, depression and anxiety are becoming more and more prevalent in today’s world. What’s worse is that despite how common these struggles are, so many people still suffer in silence 🙁

The mother was, without a doubt, the most well-written and powerfully acted character in the entire show. She’s one of those characters you come to understand deeply as the story unfolds but not necessarily like. Her past, her personality, her worldview... none of it made her particularly likeable, but it made her real. We’re given access to every layer of her: her fears, her pain, her regrets and while that doesn’t excuse her actions, it explains them. She remained a deeply flawed person, but also one of the most human and the fact that she had to come to terms with her regrets and to forgive herself or at least to try

It seems we have a rare moment of collective agreement nobody likes her in this comment section😅 My issue with her isn’t even just about the character herself (which yes i dont like), but how she feels completely out of sync with the rest of the drama it’s like she wandered in from an entirely different show with a totally different tone 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don't know if I missed the info somehow, but did they ever say who the ML's mother was? As the Emperor has this abnormal dislike for him just existing, even before the empress incident

I think if they continue like this, I will love it till the end. I really didn't expect to like it this much, and I like that it is not only comedy, or else I wouldn't be able to continue if it didn't have any depth. Even now, there is some seriousness every now and than. I really loved when The Journey to Love OST started it was a nice touch and it was funny 🤣

omg, finally somebody mentioned the wolves. It was so cringe I was thinking to drop it too at that scene. It would have been better if done with bandits, and it would look both better and would have made more sense. I don't care if somebody trained the wolves to attack it was just so nonsensical 🥲🥲🥲

Who he was shaped to be after the death of the empress is another story, but he can still be a better person if he chooses the right path. He does think he is righteous and good and perfect, so I guess he needs to be humbled by the FL and ML 🤣

I confess I didn't like most of the first episode, but I'm obsessed now. Weirdly, it has serious moments as the story develops, and it takes a few episodes to get used to it, but yes, if you have too many dramas to watch, it's better to drop it if you don't like it. You can always try it again later on when you have more time 🙂

I see what you mean, and I agree that the flashback makes it look like he turned on ML really fast. But honestly, that’s kind of the point it was fast, and that’s exactly how emotional trauma in children can work. Sometimes a single traumatic event (like witnessing a death of loved one and being told someone you trusted was responsible, as the Emperor is accusing NH there in front of everyone) can flip a child’s perception instantly, especially when they’re already vulnerable/grieving

In his defense, he was a little child too, so easy to manipulate. I'm sure he was fed lies throughout his life to antagonise ML. But yes, he is the kind of character who can grate on people's nerves with his righteousness that doesn't really show in everything he does (as you pointed out)

She read the script (or at least skimmed through it) and immediately disliked the ml and his actions. So, when she finds herself inside the story, she’s already carrying a bias: she “knows” who he is based on the version she read. That prejudice shapes everything, she doesn’t see him as a real person with nuance, but as a character she’s already judged. And to make things worse, the actor playing the ml in the original story shares the same face as him in this world, which only deepens her aversion. but she is starting slowly to see that the world of the novel is not completely as she thought it was
