And the airing schedule is making it worse, hoping that the express will really be released

Even now, depending on the region of the world you are born in, it is not the best. 😭 But it was definitely much much worse in the past

The emperor is just a pathetic old man. Remember what the empress dowager said that year? She lost three children…
The only thing the emperor cares about is his own throne. He doesn't think of what Yanxi feels if he is shifting even a little away from him. He always had to control him, at the beginning just to flex on his brother, and now because he needs him as an asset, but he will destroy him if he thinks he can't control him anymore. Not sure if he is able maybe to have some kind of eye-opening moment if Yanxi is near death (to find some little care for him at that point) or if he can see how wrong he was on his own deathbed... you never know, as it is a drama. In real life it would never happen with a paranoid and narcistic personality like his

Something he would have never done if he hadn't met HZ. He would never even allow his sister to leave their family home. The change comes from HZ

Sometimes they can be tragic figures, but if they suffer in their position, imagine the life of the common people at the other end of the social spectrum. Definitely not the times someone would want to live in (or be transmigrated into, like in most novels 🤣).

They knew the rules, so they should have just dropped a lot of subplots from the novel and chosen just the best ones. I mean, the novel had to add never-ending problems to justify the number of chapters

They are just adding plot after plot instead of solving the ones they already have without overcomplicating it

I'm not referring to the historical figure, but rather to the character of a fictional emperor. Generally, it's uncommon to feel an affinity for emperors or powerful historical figures, largely because their morals, decisions, and stances often differ significantly from our values

Totally on board with "kill the psycho emperor". If GYX is the only one he supposedly trusts; then GYX needs to…
The novel is simply too long for 40 episodes. They should have chosen quality over quantity. Instead, everything feels rushed now. It is nice to see secondary characters have their own resolutions, but I would have liked to see more of their journeys and development, but that is realistically impossible. So they should have just chosen a few characters if they didn't want to do two parts like Lost you Forever instead of condensing subplots into 30-second storylines. That said, I really like the characters and overall maturity of the leads, especially FL. And I liked that they didn't make ML a simp just to elevate FL, and they didn't do the same with her to make him the knight in shining armor. They are both strong in their own ways and can help each other in different situations

I like this palace drama plotline, as I prefer the ml to have his own story unrelated to the Hua family. However, now the storylines are colliding for the finale. I suppose some parts feel disjointed and strange, but I think it's because it's based on a 600+ chapter novel, and they tried to condense everything into 40 episodes, so there are just too many characters and subplots, and they are throwing everything at us in short periods of time without really building proper momentum. Even the 2ml disappeared for most of the show, but they made us know (once he reappeared) that FL knew his location the whole time, so I guess a lot was cut to fit everything into the show

The emperor's paranoia forced Yanxi to live a harsh military life in the north, but in a way, it was a blessing in disguise, as he had some time away from the royal family's craziness. Ps. Some people can give only that kind of love, which is not even love, but they regard it as such.

Yes, because after a certain age, they were his rivals for the throne. But he always had an obsession with Yanxi. It probably started as a way to show his brother that he could own his son, but then he grew fond of him in a very twisted, narcissistic way, which I guess is the only way this emperor can care for someone other than himself.

If I were HZ, I would relocate my family from the capital. I know that the emperor can reach them wherever they go, but there is no point in remaining in the capital and making themselves vulnerable. I do not believe that her breaking up with Yanxi will guarantee her safety. If the emperor decides that Yanxi is not obedient enough, she and her family will face the consequences regardless. Yanxi doesn’t even need to do anything, as the emperor has a very vivid imagination full of plots and treasons 🤷🏼‍♀️

I suppose he will have some kind of realization or epiphany on his deathbed to provide some closure for ML, considering the significant role he has played as a father figure in his life, even if he is a narcissistic man who gave him harsh punishments and crumbs of affection when his own father never did cared for him

That's what I thought too. It was maturely handled and it wasn't over dramatic. She made herself quite clear.
He can't take the throne because of the scar. I guess that's why the Emperor scared the little prince too. It was said in the first or second episode that nobody with a disfigured face can sit on the throne.

I believe he is well aware of the emperor's potential for cruelty, so it wouldn't make a significant difference. In general, I think he understands the emperor better than anyone else, but his relationship with HZ caused him to make a mistake (try to protect shen family), which resulted in the emperor's negative reaction. As I said in other comments, the only way for Yanxi to achieve true freedom is for the emperor to die. No one can simply leave and hide from him and expect to find happiness, as he holds the most power in that world

My favourite emperor was the one in The Long Ballad. I loved how he was written and his character overall. The one in LLTG was cute but not very realistic. He was adorable, but I couldn't take him seriously as a character. The one in this drama is unlikable but very believable, so I appreciate the character a lot
