I haven't read the original novel yet but it seems to align more closely with your expectations. I intend to read it after completing the show to gain a different feel of the story. If you were fastforwarding to this point in the drama, you would likely continue to do so for the majority of it. And as is typical of c drama, the last episodes will probably be more dramatic and dark. Ps. Right now in the story, she has moved from the capital to the region she and the original JL family are from, so there is a change of environment and characters.

My only problem were the two maids. They were so over-the-top that it was becoming annoying, but luckily they are not there anymore. As for the comedy, I suppose later on it will become very dramatic, so the comedic parts will not last too many episodes, but it will be here and there just to break up the drama. I prefer more serious tones as well, but i did laugh at some scenes 🫢😁

I was waiting for so long for that one, but I still didn't start it as it doesn't seem good. Maybe when I finish everything else, I can give it a try as I was excited for it, but then I wasn't really impressed by the trailer and some scenes I watched on YouTube.

They take elements from different times, including modern times, for costumes and makeup. I like that they aren't bound to a specific historical time, so they don't need to try to mimic real history in terms of what happens with the emperor, court, etc. There is so much freedom to do anything
