Heads up. I put alot of major plot spoilers in this.
Cheating... technically there is no cheating. I'm not even sure if I'd consider the ex bf coming back as cheating. Its really complicated.
Depends what you deem to be toxic. There is a lot of scheming that goes on. The main character WuSuoWei gets broken up with and tries to turn his life around so he can win back his ex gf. While trying different jobs he keeps running into ChiCheng.
WSW keeps thinking it's just a coincidence, but then he sees his ex is now with CC. He assumes his ex and CC are messing with him. So WSW starts his revenge plan to make ChiCheng fall for him.
During all that. ChiCheng isn't messing with him at all. He's distracted by his own heart break from his ex bf from the last 6 years. And his lot of snakes. Plus, he's at odds with his best friend.
There is a lot of back and forth scheming that they all think is harmless, but it can be pretty toxic.
There is a novel, but thats a lot more graphic and harcore toxic. They toned it down a lot for the show.
There is a r*pe scene that almost made me stop watching. They don't really show it, but ChiCheng tells his people to r*pe the one guy because *spoiler* Chi Cheng's dad steals all his snakes. It might not seem like a big deal but its all ChiCheng has. To him they are more than his children. The guy he orders the r*pe on had something to do with it. I wish they would have cut his finger off instead or something. To me that's the only bad part.
There are no "good" moral characters in this. They are all pretty grey. Some would say red flags.
ChiCheng genuinely falls for WSW and WSW comes to realize, ChiCheng didn't steal his gf, and thrn he realizes he has fallen for CC. But he struggles with his sexuality after that. He can't accept that hes in love with a man for a while.
After he accepts it, he and CC have to face other stuff and get through it. He has to tell CC that he approached him in a dishonest way.
ChiCheng's ex comes back and its gut-wrenching to see WSW and CC start to not talk and misunderstand each other. That ends with WSW feeling like CC might not love him so he gives him an out by leading CC to discover he lied to him and CC's ex was once WSW ex. They break up, which is also heartbreaking.
*super spoiler* During the ex coming back and them breaking up. WSW mom gets really sick and CC takes care of her and she asks CC not to tell WSW. So, he doesn't. It causes a lot of the suspicion because its happening as CC's ex is trying to get back with and at CC.
WSW finds out his mom's sick when him and CC broke up. The mom has a terminal cancer and she dies. It's really sad. CC comes and starts being harsh to WSW. WSW cries and CC comforts him. They get back together.
Then some tax issues happen in WSW and CC company. CC gets arrested for it. Goes to jail for a while, not sentenced, WSW sells everything he has, including his moms house, to give to CC to help. CC gets really angry and tells him he hates him.
After CC gets out, he goes to WSW and buys his house back for him.
Other stuff happens, but thats the jist of it.
The ending is rushed and censored. But I loved the series overall.
Perth looks so fine anytime he's on a motorcycle!!!! I can't wait! Please don't tone this down. I promise PerthSanta can make an amazing dark gritty drama together! They are both amazing actors.

The boy Qingtian likes got into a car accident 3 or 5 years ago, I don't remember. That's why he goes to the hospital. The boy's in coma. In the trailer QT breaks down. Idk if the boy ends up dying or not, but I have a feeling he might.
