I know. I am an Indian. Unlike Kdramas or Cdramas, Indian serials run for years (except few web series). Thanks to which, plot dragging, character killing and whole bunch of nonsense gets thrown into the mix. At the end, every drama feels like a reused plot of same stories.

That's how I ended dropping regional dramas and opting for Western shows ( US, UK have some of the best crime and action series.. that goes to multiple seasons I absolutely enjoy them).

Then I came across korean and Chinese series. To keep myself protected from falling for depressing or painful plots, I binge watch. Only when I know how the drama ends. I can't even handle unnecessary breaks and noble idiocy shit that's on trend for a decade. A story somehow is never complete without a silly breakup. I can't figure out why!!

That's why I watch snippets, trailers, teasers, episode clips, synopsis, reviews before deciding to watch something.

So far I have been happy with my choices. Dropped few CDramas like - Feel At Ease Mr. Ling etc. I love strong or lively FL without over-the-top antics or idiocy.

I have a strong urge to watch this drama. Even though I hardly prefer any Asian historical / period stories, this one is making me want to give it a shot.

Kindly enlighten me, how is the chemistry, romance and does it have a happy ending?

I cant even find a female cast lol

I don't trust on-air dramas. I usually wait until last eps to figure out to watch or not. I have a faint heart and anything without a happy ending breaks me.

But I will look out for your suggestions though!

Not going to compare YAMG and this drama. Both are my current favourites :) I was a huge fan of Yang Yang (since Love O2O), Now Xu Kai has made to the list :))

Don't we drama addicts go through this withdrawal symptoms after watching a drama where FF rarely has any use :D Sigh, gems are scarce. Lucky are the ones who find it and appreciate it.

They don't make too many good series these days. I took a break from dramas from 2018 till last June 2021 and thought of catching up.

Alas, only handful of dramas have made the cut to my watchlist :/

YAMG, FILWYS, Couple of Korean series are currently on my top most favorite lists! I guess it's time for me to go for another break.

P.S Why does best Chinese actors have soo many period drama roles? Xu Kai has done so many historical series. I wish he had done more rom-com dramas :(

When I started, I couldn't get hooked to the series while watching first ep. I put off for nearly a week before picking it on a whim. At first, FL felt too bland on expressions (could also be my prejudice, since I had read lot of reviews on FL acting). But two episodes in, you eventually get used to it. And before you know it, you are into the story. - That was me lol. Can't say the same about everyone else. However, I thoroughly enjoyed the series.

It's not possible. I have a feeling that FILWYS have received a lot of negative reviews (because of e-sports controversy) so it's unlikely to have another season.

Best option is to have new series with an e-sports theme (without hurting any fans' sentiments that is lol.) With same leads ofcourse. Even if they can't have the FL, I want Xu Kai in another gaming drama ;)

I believe it's because of the e-sports controversy. I have heard that the love story in this series, is inspired from real life love story of a e-sports pro player couple and also, some of the scenes (I guess in ref to Tong Yao ex playing attacking - in the game - Tong Yao during their match and many other scenes were players were emotional / manipulative) were seen as an insult to pro players. Thats why the series received strong backslash from Chinese fans - considering e-sports pro players are no less than idols for lot of them.

Since the series is available in YT for global audience, we have enjoyed it and loved it. Unaware of all these controversies lol. Anyway, that's my opinion.

General doubt:

I have been told "ge" means "older bro" .

Tong Yao calls Cheng "Ge" . Even after they start dating. Why? It sounds really weird. After watching a couple of Chinese series I get this weird feeling whenever FL calls ML as " ge " especially harboring romantic feelings for the person. Even supporting female characters do that (a lot actually).

In Korea, Both elder bro and Significant love interest are called "oppa", is calling "ge" similar to that??

Most of series in Kissasian and Dramacool have similar subs. I usually don't find much difference between the two.

I am aware that most of what was multiple parts of epilogue made it to nearly 10+ eps of the series.

However, is there anything in the novel that didn't make it to the series? Especially after marriage scenes.
