I was pissed too.. its a typical fall in love, breakup, patch-up route most dramas follow.
But I believe the reason was more complicated than ML's father. It's years of things not going her way. Like whenever she is very happy, suddenly tragedy strikes. So just when she was in cloud 9 with ML, the one tragedy that ruined her family's life became connected to him. It was that.. and if you noticed, she was fiddling with her finger while she was breaking up.
So essentially, she didn't do it out of spite, or to punish for whatever ML's father had done (allegedly). She did it because of her family, as it was one thing she never won over them. Whether it was sacrificing her studies, fulfilling the role of dutiful daughter, hiding her major in college - all of which is connected. So yeah, her choice was overwhelming feelings than hatred.
Moveover, despite the breakup, she ensured everything went smoothly with him, even with her absence in the office, she had already spoken to the team on how to react around him.. and even figured out the puzzle and the story behind the stadium disaster.. the breakup lasted barely an episode. And she was also angry that he hid all of this. Not to forget, she effectively defended ML when Pei Zhen visited the hospital.
What actually conveyed her feelings for ML was her breaking down in front of her father. She didn't cry when her fiance broke up engagement, she even hid her new job.. but to breakdown so badly and begging her parents to let her have her love - that was the turning point.
So, no, she didn't really hold ML responsible because of his father.
As far as all the parents in show are concered, agreed. Each and everyone failed in their duties.
I really don't understand the hate this drama is getting. The actors did a good job, the story felf very realistic and slice of life, and pace was good too. At 12 episodes the wrapped everything, including the supporting characters. It's a good weekend watch..
Sis if you really need to boycott someone, boycott Netflix for the mistranslation - not this drama who hundreds…

I don't have verifiable source, but I did find a Wattpad account as suggested by some fans in Instagram - it had all the 6 books of University series & other books by the author. Not sure if this is the original author account or pirated version, but all the stories are in Tagalog. :)
In anyway, you are not completely off the mark about the Wattpad like story lol. I enjoyed the drama too. A breath of fresh air from same old romantic flicks that's been going around (And my first filipino drama, had watched plenty of filipino movies before this!).

While I can make sense of every illogical thing in this drama.. the only thing I can never wrap my head around is what audio/music team was doing.
Perhaps, they made one banger ost.. and then decided to fuse background music from lame cartoons.. that's the only possible explanation.
Either ways, drama will not blow your mind. It will just make you question everything for a second, then draw you in for the absurdity of it all.
