Everyone here is talking about Bai lu but as a fan of the show in general I feel this season of keep running missed…
When it comes to Bailu I think due to the many hate trains she has gotten simply for being extroverted and popular her relationship with her idol actor peers have become more strained, whether that is personal between them or something their agency's decided to avoid controversy. When watching I honestly feel shes much closer to the older cast whos screen time had already begun to dwindle over the years so if shes interacting a lot with less popular cast members there will probably be screen time cut. Not only that but Zhou Shen and Yuqi not being here this season was unfortunate as well (both members I believe are really important to the overall natural chemistry and both who easily connect the newer and older cast). Plus Bailu was added to the show at the time they needed a loud presence. It was her laugh and energy that got her her place in the cast in a season where they had lost a lot of people in it. FCC came in and had that same energy which is why we all loved their friendship so much as they were able to play off each other and share that role equally. But now that drama from fans have caused that friendship to become awkward FCC has kind of taken that energizer role completely and this friendship between FCC and Meng ziyi is being pushed to replace FCC and Bailu hence a lower screen time. Which is why I say that the friendships between the casts being overtaken by drama is what is killing the natural charm.
Everyone here is talking about Bai lu but as a fan of the show in general I feel this season of keep running missed a bit of the natural charm and chemistry of earlier seasons. Usually I feel emotional at the end of the season too but for this one I honestly felt a disconnect. I wouldn't be surprised if the show cancels in the next couple years bcus alot of the viewership these days is from younger fanbases who whereas in the past there was a lot more of the general public interest in the show (the difference between a teenage kpop fan in a phase vs a whole family viewing) and it shows in the amount of immature fan wars that have been produced in the past couple years.
I think that fans favoritism, rise in idol focus and bias towards some of the cast has caused unnessesary drama that has made the interactions between the cast feel uncomfortable. In the past Bailu and Chengcheng were super close but bcus of fans ever since s13 those interactions are shown less and less. I think that the favoritism in the viewers towards newer idol actor cast (Li Yunrui, Chengcheng, Meng Ziyi, Zhenyuan, Bailu) also weighs down on the older cast (Zheng Kai, Li Chen, Shayi). Zheng Kai in general has become less and less passionate in the show over the years (probably bcus he went from the most popular cast member in the early years to one of the more ignored ones) and I think him and Li Chen still hang on to the show because of how ingrained it has been into their lives and careers and the fact they are the only og cast members left.
The main connection is the 3 novels are kind of called "nanwu trilogy" which is basically all the characters exist in the same world and all coming from the same hometown of Nanwu.
But otherwise the connection between the characters is less in WIMTM then the connection between hidden love and the first frost. In this one I think I read that the ml was like classmates with Sang Yan in college or highschool but theres not a big friendship between them
I only just started this and so far the only thing thats really gonna bother me is with her keeping the accent and the way she talks for a long time.
I've been in a kdrama drought for a while apart from "in your radiant season" and "we're all trying here" I've been watching soley cdramas the past 7months so if anyone has anything to recommend that has come out this year I'd appreciate it.
So do we think this is gonna go down a memory loss, fall in love all over again trope since she may time travel again? I hate those so much but reading the spoilers here and it feels like that may be what happens.
The casting in this drama omg the way I recognize so many people in the cast. Plus Oh Jung Se and Jeon Bae Soo are two of my favorite male actors, I usually love most of their dramas so im excited.
Hate to be that person but is it a happy ending? My liberation notes and my mister was bittersweet to me so im wondering if this is similar. Do the main leads end up happy together or do they go separate ways? I like these type of dramas and i honestly am ok if they dont end up together since thats not the main focus I just like to know what im getting into
If they had no love triangle this drama would be better there was no reason for such a long lasting love triangle. istg absolutely no one was rooting for sml who they kept dragging into story.
Is there a romance between PSH and GKP characters in this drama? I'm usually not a big fan of GKP in romance plots but im interested in this drama. If there is romance between their characters is it good here?
I mostly how skimmed through this drama after the first 10 episodes planning to rewatch it in full once it finished airing but now I dont really have the interest to. I think the main thing i struggled with was the back and forth in the leads relationship. And for a while I was annoyed with the editing + with how cai zhao would say shes on his side and then shed go back to the other sects. Like I hated how i felt unsure of their relationship still at ep 30/37 i swear there wasnt a solid 3 episodes straight of them on good terms from ep 10 onwards.
But again i didnt watch it fully so I probably misjudged some things that were happening. And while i didnt watch it in full I dont think it deserves such bad reviews/reactions. I'd give it a solid 7 cus I've definitely seen worse rated at an 8.
I liked this drama a lot when it came out but some people get frustrated with fl but I mostly was annoyed with ml. But I still think its hilarious the ml fell for what he thought was 3 different women in the span of a month or so😭
I always love chae jong hyeop dramas cus he has the sweetest "in love" eyes I've liked him since love all play. I was so happy when castaway diva did so good and now here too I'm glad hes getting good scripts (at least I hope this drama continues to be that is)
I'm so happy that he doesnt have amnesia😭(pls dont tell me one of them gets it later on) im like so tired of the amnesia cliches rn. I hate love triangles but I'd rather one of those then a memory loss plot point
but i am mentally preparing to be traumatized by this drama for a good few weeks im sure. once it starts turning too dark i might wait to finish till the drama has finished airing
If anyone is curious if it deviates from the book. It does but not drastically. Some characters have more lines…
did u read the novel? Is there a happy ending? I'm worried one of them dies in battle or smthin and leaves the other a single parent. I just want to be mentally prepared
