Everyone is asking what happened so let me share the rumours I saw and my personal speculations. The promotion…
I was sad at first that this got postponed but I want it to do well, so if that means waiting for the right time, I don't mind waiting! Now that I think about it, it might be a good winter drama since one of the most important scenes between the leads (in my opinion) happened while there was "snow" (short of spoiling haha #ifykyk).
Fun at the start but by the time the Beiqi arc happened I just mentally tapped out till the last ep. ML was too much of a Gary Stu. The premise with the mum was also kinda…weird (but at least they tried to put some sci-fi element to it). Then it had all these not-so-subtle preachy moments. Also, slight harem (ew) should be in the tags.
the moment they announce a premiere date for this i'll subscribe to youku again 😂 ughhh xiaotong deserves better and i'm curious as to hu xianxu's performance
I need to rant now because everyone's deadset on praising this godforsaken drama but holy shit I have never been this frustrated by a drama whose premise relies on overstretched suspense. You can only enjoy this drama if you are not living in it.
I hope this drama finally makes good use of how smoldering and attractive Wang Hong Yi is. 🤣 It looks like…
I haven’t seen him in anything but aura- and looks-wise he seems like the perfect casting for Tanmoluojia/Sultan Gu. I think he can pull off the duality in the novel pretty well.
That almost kiss snippet shared yesterday is on point 🔥
As excited as I am for this drama, I just know I ain’t looking forward to the Li Weizhen scenes. His poor character development (or devolution maybe) into a simp was unentertaining and awkward as heck to read in the novel, and the quan yilun casting got me skeptical if he can pull off a ‘domineering military man with phoenix eyes’ type of character
Both Huang Yaoshi and Feng Heng became intolerable by the end of this miniseries, for having the most undeserved love line. It's an overall story problem when you have a supposedly super strong character with unbelievable character development.
Zhou Yiwei's fights weren't even that good cause his fights used a lot of special effects.
Ouyang Feng and Chai Qiong were the saving grace of this drama.
I don't want to end up hate watching the rest of this franchise remake damn it but if this is already the one people preferred the most out of the miniseries I might have to think again if I'll continue…
Mainly interested to watch Hot Blooded cause of Baobao, but I might as well watch the 4 other parts first! Hoping for enough mind-numbing action haha 🤞
Just finished it and can finally cross it off my list. It is good, has that classic feel to it. Not something I'd rewatch though.
Had a good buildup, I was kinda taking my time at the start. Towards the middle it was bingeworthy (also on 1.5× avg speed), and by the end I just wanted it to be wrapped up already.
Lovely acting from everyone, but in terms of casting, I didn't like how some of the mothers/consorts didn't really look old enough to be the mothers of the male characters lol. You could've convinced me they were siblings instead of parent-child. Even the emperor looked like he could've been brothers with his sons 😆
I know everybody loves Leo Wu but everytime Fei Liu popped up on my screen I just wanted to book a session for him with a developmental paediatrician 😅
OMG I can't wait for this one. It was a long novel but the story is quite nice and each character is really complex.…
I just finished the novel and I have to disagree about Hong Yi not shaving his head. Makes the drama feel more commercial and not as reverent. Shouldn't have been hard for him to get a buzzcut.
Bao Shangen played a nonchalant, avoidant but well-loved girl pretty well! Her display of strength wasn't the 'in your face' type which suited her character perfectly.
I think I’ll pass on S2.
If I'm gonna purchase express episodes just to hate watch the rest of this mess, I'm really a fool 💀🙈
For those who haven't reserved this yet on WeTV, go do it now!
I dunno how they're gonna get more investors for this drama though. LFG!!!

I like both titles either way! ETYH seems like it describes the first half of the drama while RTS describes the latter half maybe
