I'm FINALLY back to where the drama started. So she really put all of those people in danger just to get out of…
Getting out of the wedding before would implicate her family and the entire Crimson Clan because the Azure Clan set their eyes on them and they held the power in capital. She couldn't ask Shi Ying for help because he so "nicely" congratulated her on her wedding and washed his hands of her (at least it looked like that to her). Her new husband's family wanted to turn her into an obedient puppet (literally) they could use for political purposes so she did well running away anyway.
If she faked her death before (aside from it being harder and probably dangerous for her clan anyway, in case it was revealed) the story couldn't progress without them finding out about her mother in law's conspiracy and her connection to Azure Clan.
Like yeah, Zhu Yan would ruffle less feathers but there would be no story.
What is the reason for antis (?) to downrate this drama od Douban? I just saw the rating and it baffled me. Btw, I'm not here to provoke, I'm planning on watching this and just got curious after seeing it on twitter.
Is this connected to the first part in a way that they somehow find out they knew each other in their past life? Like, is the whole reincarnation part significant to the story or it can be viewed as two separate dramas with the same leads?
Thank you! You’re the first person I’ve seen that actually understands Zhu Yan. I myself love Shi Ying too…
I also like Zhao Lusi and her acting, she probably could've carried it out, but I also like seeing a fresh new face like Ren Min who can act and looks the age. In the end I think casting choice for this one was done right.
Happy ending? Feel free to give spoilers for context
It's an open ending. ML dies (? sacrifices himself and turns into a bunch of petals), but something happens in the last scene that makes it look like he has returned, so some people consider it a happy ending (me included).
Thank you! You’re the first person I’ve seen that actually understands Zhu Yan. I myself love Shi Ying too…
Yeah, I don't know either. I don't know many Chinese actresses (except the really popular ones here on MDL, and none of them would fit in my opinion). I remember someone mentioning one of the Bai sisters (when the drama started airing) but I can't imagine them in this role either.

Right. It really irks me when people criticize her character without even trying to put themselves in her shoes. You don't have to like her or her actions but you have to admit she's not just annoying and stubborn for the sake of being annoying and stubborn. There is a logic behind most of her actions. And she also quickly forgives SY despite him KILLING her friend because she's reasonable and understands why he did what he did. When I think about it her adult life isn't that happy (she loses Zhi Yuan, then SY uses her to kill himself, she uses half of her lifespan to bring him back to life & then has to leave him again, they reunite but she loses both of her parents, after that loses both ZY and SY AGAIN (none of it being her fault) and people still have no understanding and sympathy for her. SMH.
I feel like many people who give ZY shit would be talking differently if she was played by some other popular actress but that's a whole other story >.>
I'm rewatching some episodes and I just have to say how much I love Zhu Yan's reaction to Shi Ying's attack on Zhi Yuan. Like - yes, you are my master, I love you and you have the obligation to stop the war and save the kingdom BUT I will not let you kill my friend. I just love how determined she was in standing up to someone she romantically loves in order to save her friend. Also, the clash between them was so visually beautiful!
A lot of people view things from Shi Ying's perspective and therefore find her annoying and meddlesome, but as I see it, she's such a good character.
Thank you! I'm almost done with TTEOTM and these two you mentioned are my priority for now. I'm looking forward to seeing more of his acting. *excited*
I suggest:Love is sweet - It definitely acts like a healing and buffer for all the heartbreaks and suffering that…
Thank you! I'll check them out. Still mulling over Broker because it sounds good, but the rating is bad. Anyway, I already have my hands full with the 4 already mentioned so Broker can wait.
Yes please do watch LIS. It will help the healing process faster.Ashes of Love is good too, but there are too…
In my mind I'm already taking LIS as the world in which they reincarnated and got their deserved happy ending 😂
As for Ashes of Love, it has been sitting in my PTW list for ages but I finally have the motivation to start it. Before, I never really cared about any actors in it so the huge number of episodes threw me off, but now there's LYX 🥰
I'll also check LTL and LCR. Thank you for recommendations!
My first time watching him in Till The End of The Moon and I'm already a goner. The fact that he plays Tantai Jin (my favourite type of character) contributed a lot, but he was also amazing in that role!
I'm planning to watch Love is Sweet after this, just to heal my heart after this torment, but I would like to ask for some recommendations from his fans. What do you think are his best roles? I'm open to suggestions.
even as a big fan of XZ im still scared of watching this series because after checking ep 1, the fl already gave…
I wouldn't call her a typical damsel in distress type of character, quite the opposite. As for master x disciple relationship, he's not much older than her, and nothing really happens between them during the time in which she is his disciple. I think their relationship was balanced quite nicely, and anything serious starts happening only after she leaves the mountain on which they cultivated together and after he leaves priesthood. Of course, their relationship blossoms and develops even before that, but he doesn't pursue her & she doesn't believe there could be anything romantic between them because of his status.
I hope that clears some of your doubts. If you're a fan of XZ I'm sure you'll not regret watching this. He's absolutely amazing as Shi Ying and his acting in this it top-notch.
I'm his new fan. after The Longest Promise :) what an intelligent and versatile actor he is. I'm deeply moved…
Welcome to the club ❣️
I remember how beautiful the period of discovering his works/interviews/performances had been for me, after I watched him in The Untamed for the first time. He really is a beautiful soul and I'm sure you'll enjoy being his fan. Like you said, he has so much to offer.
I am so sorry but I am dropping this on episode 16 because I can't stand that Zhu Yan brat anymore! I tried so…
She is a brat in the beginning, but she's also always being kept in the dark by other characters, not knowing what's actually happening around her, so I don't think we can expect her to be more cautious. Her character becomes much better once people actually start communicating with her.
As for her attractiveness, it's a subjective thing. I can understand you not wanting to watch if you don't find her attractive tho. There are many popular dramas I also skip because I don't like how main leads physically look >.>. I just don't like when people publicly shame someone for their physical appearance and I've seen it to many times when it comes to this drama.
[Don't take this as me "coming after you", I'm just sharing my perspective 😂]
TTJ received LSSs divine essence (from World Jade) in exchange for his evil bone, so he also has the potential…
Okay, that makes sense, somewhat. But there are also Nian Bai Yu and that little girl that was saved by Li Susu. They're all from the same clan so it may be connected, but however I look at it the whole chronology and characters' life spans are iffy. Not that I care too much tho, I'm still enjoying it 😂
