Yes I know that Close to You isn't written by Lin Pei Yu. That it was written by the same writer as MODC that I am having some reservations. But then again, we will see.

Everything is downgraded. The acting, the plot, the cinematography, the writing, the humor - It's disastrously…
The writer of this show is the same as MODC. The writer of Obsessed, Crossing the Line and Trapped is the same one who is writing We Best Love.

Maybe it is because I watched History 1 and 2 that had 8 episodes, and they managed to achieve a lot in that time frame. I think this format worked well for the History franchise, that I say this. Unless the writer can come up with a complex and/or a compelling plot for this, I fear that we may end up getting a lot of fillers. From her recent work (MODC), she ran out of ideas that she had to pilfer from another work. But again, we will see how this goes.

The first 60 seconds had me wanting to give up. Did History get a whole new production company? Who wrote this?…
Trapped and Crossing the Lines are by the same writer who has now moved to We Best Love. She also did the other popular installments, Right or Wrong and Obsessed. Pretty damn good writer in my opinion as she was the one beind Bromance.

I was hesitant to watch this as the comments didn't seem favorable, but after watching the first episode, I seem to be on the fence on this. Sure this show won't win any awards for its directing, acting, scriptwriting etc but I fell off the chair laughing (esp. At when they tried to figure out what BL means).
I'm gonna give this drama a few more episodes before I pass judgment. I get a kind of "Capture Lover" vibe right now and that show was a train wreck. Not sure if we really need 20 episodes of this though but we will see.

It looks to my FYJ ends up with YXS, right? FYJ is the stalker? I'm a bit uncertain about the concept of a stalker…
Pseudo incest is a common trope in BL mangas so maybe that's why some production would exploit this, like History 1 & 2 did prior, but this is borderline creepy step-siblings or not.

Each country offers their type/style of BL, their own strengths and weaknesses. Some countries have more BL productions (whether due to earlier adoption or more lax LGBT views) while others are just starting, so I can't make all-encompassing statements just because some countries had a head start.

But to note, for me it's a toss up between Thailand and Taiwan for now until other countries catch up.

@LysonP Have you seen Word of Honor? It's giving Untamed the run for its money.

Hey, we're not the ones going around almost every single comment and shoving the same agenda down other people's throats. So Who's really the one beating the dead horse if not you?

I have no problem with people disliking the show. After all, everyone has their own tastes. The issue I have are with certain people who make rash judgments on actors for just trying to do their jobs, treating their characters and actors as one and the same.

I am talking about how people are bashing Sam for drinking to prepare for this scene, not about the debate regarding consent because people have differing opinions on it.

As a victim of sexual assault, I wasn't happy about this either but I see where Shi De was coming from but even so, his character's behavior was inexcusable. It is those people who are criticizing Shi De's actions as Sam's that I have an issue with.

And you would be surprised at how a lot of 13-year-olds are mature enough to know what consent is, you see There's such a thing as Sex education where I come from that starts when kids are in Grade 1 (6 yrs old), and consent being taught in Grade 3 (8 yrs old), gender identity in Grade 5 (10 yrs old), so on and so forth. (This is another debate for another time whether what age is appropriate to teach them about the "nasties" of the world - and I say "nasties" with tongue in cheek).

It really depends on where you draw the line regarding consent. I know a lot of people find Sleeping Beauty and Snow White problematic and these movies have been approved for children viewing for ages. Where does political correctness begin and end? Can we just appreciate the drama for what it is - just a show that happens to spark conversation? For those still concerned about the lessons of contentious scenes being portrayed in a "favorable" way, I think this is where parental education comes in for those whose minds that are still impressionable.

I really like this show, it’s a relatively nice story with good acting, which is not always the case for BL…
This comment for the people in the back. A very mature thought process that weighs in the good and the bad, with proper explanation, without shoving their agenda down people's throats.

Highlighting this: "And judging what is right or what is wrong, what someone should take or not take, is always easy as outsiders, but as a viewer I’d rather take this opportunity to put myself in these characters shoes, and more than judging them, try to understand and emphasise with them." - I am grateful for this golden nugget. We should all learn from this poster.

Certain people on this forum think that they're saints and stand on their moral high ground throwing stones at actors who are trying their best to deliver us what I think is a good show. If you have a problem with it, please change the channel. I don't mind differences of opinion, as long as they are healthy and thoughful discussions. Fortunately, most people here have fully-developed, functioning intellect. It is just the sad few who are lacking brain cells, who resort to pettiness and have a very limited vocabulary that are ruining this comment page. I guess I have to send them boxes of diapers and perhaps throw in some pacifiers to soothe their growing pains. Remember this is rated 13+ . If your mental age isn't able to comprehend this, then you have no business watching this show.

Well, at least I don't resort to name-calling when arguing my point because calling other people tools, morons and stupid, doesn't make your stance more valid and actually makes you look like a petulant child who isn't mature enough to handle adult issues. Go back to sucking your thumb, because clearly you need it.

I agree with you. If Sam was completely drunk, he wouldn't have been able to function or remember his lines. But some people on this forum just like to stand on their soap box because clearly they've won Oscars for their acting skills, hiding behind a computer in the comfort of their own homes.
