I think the low ratings were mainly due to the change in the female lead and the outdated storyline. The drama was originally supposed to air a few years ago, but it was shelved after the original actress got involved in a tax evasion scandal. They ended up reshooting scenes with the new lead. I also heard it was initially planned to have over 60 episodes, but they had to shorten it ofc, which probably contributed to some of the plot issues people noticed. If you go in not expecting much like I did, you might actually enjoy it like I did haha. I finished it a week or two ago, and I still find myself rewatching certain episodes. I will warn you that alot of people dropped it early on because the female lead comes off as immature in the beginning. But she DOES grow and mature throughout the story 😊I originally came for LXY, but I actually ended up liking Hu Yixuan even more! Also it IS a HP and it does come with special episodes ;)

I totally forgot that I watched The Little Fairy with Hu Ge & Ariel Lin! I thought this drama was going to end like that one with the modern ending lol. I thought about watching Chinese Paladin but I’m not a fan of Crystal lol, but the one with Wallace looks interesting though
