Even before ep 15 it's clear that the second madam is not the main culprit behind all of this. It's sad that her eldest son was quick to turn against her (though at least he acknowledged she was likely being used, but he should have tried to think of a plan to protect her and weed out the real culprit). While the younger son is dumb and untalented, he seems to have loyalty towards people kind to him, so that's rather nice.

edit: would like to add that it's interesting how one is intelligent but kinda untrustworthy in that he solely would put morals before personal ties, while the other is dumb but fiercely loyal to personal ties, even without morals. In some ways, neither are truly good

Exactly, plus at this point in time, she doesn't know him that well. She sees Scholar Han daily and they've been through troubles together. And I'm sure at this point she associates Jinqi with trouble - poor girl was sooo stressed when working as a maid at the Lin Residence.

Now she has to be MARRIED into this family. To add to what you're saying.... Because she doesn't have a good family background "officially" she is at the mercy of everyone in the Lin Residence. Not only that but there would be plenty of people outside the family eager to marry off to Lin, because a powerless main wife is easy to bully and usurp.

It actually does seem pretty delulu haha... There was a six month period where he saw her maybe once. But Scholar Han was there for her daily...
