I’m currently bawling my eyes out, that was the most beautiful, heartwarming kdrama that I’ve watched in my life. Although I wasn’t alive in 1988, nor was I born in South Korea, Reply 1988 does an excellent job making the audience feel nostalgic and it shows how important friendship is. It also portrays the importance of family so perfectly and I laughed & cried every single episode. I’ve noticed that other people writing reviews have spotted this so I’ll cover it as well, but the first few episodes are pretty slow. Of course, the production and story is as interesting as it is later on, but I think it takes around 4 episodes to really grasp the feeling of the drama, understand the characters and relate to them. So, I think this drama is pretty different from others, but that’s what makes it so special. Every character has their own unique story to tell and once you finish watching, you’ll feel so close to the families that it’ll be hard to let go. The ending left me so heartbroken - these characters are so dear to me (especially Dong Ryong and Bora, I love them so much) and there are a lot of important lessons to learn from each episode. I recommend Reply 1988 to anyone, it’s truly a masterpiece and it will definitely stick with you for a long while :)

Sobbing rn

Honestly I never expected to root for a wholesome friendship between a kidnapper and his victim until I watched this.

Really though, it was so, incredibly engaging and the ending of the eleventh episode absolutely destroyed me. I didn't know how attached I'd get to this show! The acting was so well done and it was fast paced too (good for me because I have a horrible attention span), but I felt as if some parts weren't cleared up at the end? Hoping for a season 2 because wow, that ending left me on a cliffhanger.

Some people didn't like this show, which I can understand, but I adored it. 9.5/10 for me. If you liked Glitch (2022), Parasite (2019) or Revenge of Others (2022), it kinda gave off those vibes for me. Other than that... I have no words, it was so amazing. Hope this can be somewhat helpful :)

I would have given this a 10 if it weren't for that lousy ending.

Other than that, this is what I call a perfect binge. The entire time I was so intrigued by the suspense, and I ADORE Park Solomon and Shin Yeeun :) Seeing them together made my heart feel all fuzzy (although I wish they had more screen time together T-T). Also I'm quite impressed by Chae Sang Woo's acting, his character made me want to die every time he showed up on the screen LOL.

I'm not so great at reviews but I felt the need to write something as I feel this drama is very special to me. Happy watching to whoever sees this!
