Guys, just imagine him playing the lead in an idol romance drama as a singer... literally the role he's always…
I wholeheartedly agree. But knowing him he'll be doing something like composing his song in a beach like what he said if he's on break.

I think because of the move up, some countries didn't get proper translated version and pending reviews.
Yes, a kiwi replied to me that South Korea was unable to get on the list of top countries since it's delayed in their country.

🦊: β€œWhen will you forgive modern idol dramas?” (it’s a slang expression)

🐱: β€œIt should be when will modern idol dramas forgive me! I really want to do a modern idol drama. Really. I’ve told a lot of producers and directors that I want to act in one. But the biggest issue is that there just aren’t that many modern idol projects being made these days. There are very, very few projects that actually get off the ground. I often ask directors if they could ask me to come if there are modern idol dramas in the future.”

At this point, I’m just super proud of KttPH and HMH. It is super well received and all the non-fans were super…
The general feedback is overwhelmingly positive considering we have mass manifesters for KttPH to be ******* 2.0. My special mention: I've seen many impressed and got satisfied with KttPH's war scenes as they can't see that in other General ML or FL dramas. Screaming crying from happiness. Proud of everyone involved in this drama πŸ₯Ήβ€οΈ.

Witnessing many of them having a mass gathering in social media to mass manifest for KttPH to be ******* 2.0 was something else. KttPH script is truly good and our HMH finally have a character who did not suffer a butchered character arc. I know plenty of traffic star dramas that couldn't reach, or struggled to surpass, this level of popularity threshold in iQIYI, yet KttPH did. There's no need to namedrop them, I only brought this on the discussion because the point is that this wasn't easy at all. With mostly fans promoting KttPH while iQIYI treated the drama like an abandoned child, what it achieved is genuinely remarkable. We didn't even have an IP to rely on. I'm hoping HMH gets more well written scripts like KttPH in the future. ❀️

I remember before this aired, we are all fighting for our lives in the KttPH comment section lol. Kudos to us who protected KttPH with all our might πŸ₯ΉπŸ₯πŸ«‚.

Now that Express has dropped and all the episodes are finally out, I can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Y'all have no idea how much anxiety this entire broadcast period put me through.

On top of that, the promotional strategy was such a mess. The marketing only started on 7/17 because the drama was originally scheduled to premiere on 7/16 but was suddenly moved up to 7/11, which threw its promotional momentum completely off course. And now, before the promotions even had a chance to gain momentum, they've already announced another drama for 7/19. You just know the platform is going to go all out promoting that one instead. This is exactly what it feels like to be treated as a filler drama. I'm still incredibly proud of this drama, especially since it's an original script rather than an adaptation of an existing IP. The Weibo hot search marketing for this drama wasn't even as strong as the marketing for a backlog drama, and its Douyin marketing was just as bad. Even so, the production team said at an offline event the other day that they had already recouped the production costs early. πŸ‘

More than anything, I'm just thankful this drama didn't suffer the same fate as the other one. A lot of international viewers kept using that drama as the benchmark to predict Key to the Phoenix Heart's fate because they were so eager for it to end up with the same poor performance. I'm genuinely grateful those hopes never came true. For context: As of 2026, that drama has the lowest total VOD (Video-on-Demand) views among costume romance dramas during its hot broadcast period, despite airing on two major platforms. I'm pretty sure y'all know which drama I'm referring to. I'm relieved that HMH's KttPH can't be put in the same category as that drama in terms of performance. No shade intended just concern coming from a fan, because let's be real, that drama was a dumpster fire with that script, and no fan wants that to happen to their fave.

Another thing: since so many international viewers were also hoping this drama wouldn't succeed internationally, here's the congratulatory post from the drama team celebrating "Key to the Phoenix Heart" for reaching No. 1 in 13 countries and regions on the iQIYI International app! πŸŽ‰

πŸ“ŒThe international promotion was just as dismal as it was in mainland China, which makes these results even more impressive. So proud of everything this drama has achieved.
