Realistic slice of life about the struggle and stakes to become a responsible adult, but done in the bounds of a sweet everyday romance. I liked how the end showed ML approaching adulthood his way and honoring the woman who inspired him to get there
Really enjoyed this movie! Very funny mockumentary about the struggle of making a film, the hustle of the film industry, and how Bong struggles with his reputation as an erotic film director. The ending was great.
There were a couple sex scenes but this is not a porn movie like most works tagged “Extreme Sexual Content.” The film makes a point of showing how how professional and non-sexual filming sex scenes can be.
Another really fun movie. Maybe you need to already like capers/heist movies to find it not boring (since a long setup is typical in them)? Good cast, action and resolution but would have liked just a little more backstory with FL’s role
I thought this was a really fun movie! The scene where he’s chased through the maze of the kisaeng house and the final fight scene were impressive! The modern soundtrack and sensibilities (like the henchman in a mohawk and the high fashion wedding scene) were also interesting and fun. LJJ had such a loose, easy and puppyish way in this paired with gritty fighting! Not sure I have ever seen him this way before but it suited him well
Wow, this was electrifying…Action, humor, drama and throughout I felt like you could not ignore Ji Wook’s dilemma. The strong silent type takes on a new meaning and food for thought. The supporting cast was like a showcase of all the aspects that Ji Wook wanted to escape in masculine (violence, bravado, rigidity) and feminine (weakness, silence), and the difficulty in finding a way to be their true self.
Oh Jung Se and Go Kyung Po are on opposite sides but their characters admire the lead in different and humorous ways. Park Sung Woong has a woefully brief but memorable performance. What a treat to see three of my favorite actors in such a quirky intelligent film! I cheered, laughed, gasped and cried. Would rewatch!
I don’t think the end was as bad as people seem to think. I felt it strongly implied Ji Wook was now on the path to finding their true self again.

Though I must add, the dogs were distracting because they didn’t look real and gave it more of a cheap feel. The cast elevated this and I would rewatch once I can view in Korean with subtitles

Not sure what to think of this. The three sex scenes are at the end (and at points I think they were just figments of the wife/mom’s imagination) while most of the movie details the mom’s emotional neglect of the daughter and the new husband’s attempts to get her to care more for the daughter. Why was the mom so uncaring for everything other than work? Felt a bit like a morality tale warning women to be good caring moms and not make work your life. Which is a weird prim premise contrasted with the sex scenes
Very disturbing. The ML was very naive and believed he was an ally and didn’t agree with homophobic beliefs in words, but seeing homosexuality in action really jars him. It clearly makes him rethink whether he is the right person to star in this play and in turn he sees his brother as vulnerable to the same insecurity (and tries to beat him into submission which of course fails). Love how the trans character sees right through him (and loudly sings about it to his face).
He is clearly haunted and guilt ridden (he’s wrong for the role and he did a horrible thing) which he agonizes about onstage at the end. To me his yelling was as much at himself (for not being able to get past his limits) as at his brother.
Really enjoyed the deep metaphorical dive into the doubts and insecurities of new parenthood, and how ML was forced to confront his past shortcomings and very specific tragedy to move on
Adorable. Didn’t expect the aunt to have such a presence so that really made this second half more interesting! Satisfying ending that didn’t seem open to me
Very fun movie! Shades of Terminator 2 and Avengers with delightful historical fantasy and magical moments. Amazing cast though felt So Ji Sub was underused (role wasn’t interesting or big enough for him IMO). And the cats! 🐱 ❤️
The ML was really stupid. It made me think about how often Cha Seung Won’s roles feature him being handsome but pretty stupid! It really didn’t work here but worth watching for Oh Jung Se
Did not love this movie but definitely loved the dog! Felt like the movie kept shoving examples of how sexist and unfair life is (especially in the first 30 minutes) just to make us root for FL and the dog. Which seemed entirely unnecessary as both were good characters
So heartbreaking…The ending really drove home that they both went into the relationship knowing how it would end. But their hearts couldn’t accept that so they both had such a struggle with letting go.
I think the flashback at the end also shows even more why Jong Woo was so angry…She wasn’t letting him go but or seeing him off as they agreed, just fighting his death every step of the way. But that final scene showed her setting things right and leaving him in peace.
I did wonder about the story behind the old man with the beautiful comatose wife. Maybe just another illustration of caretaking as a form of selfishness (because I found it creepy to begin with and the scene where she woke up made it even creepier)
So sad! FL is just tending to her dying dad and the return of the CD and CD player was devastating to me. I didn’t realize till then that it was her personal CD player 😭. That and hearing the song at the end really drove home that she obviously liked him and he was too dumb and insecure to see it (or wrongly feeling too betrayed to care)
Think it was lesson to not be like them and take the risk of being open with your feelings, whether they’re about love, insecurities or doubt. Worth watching!
