Yes, he’s going into research, but he can still diagnose. He just can’t perform surgery. He was even reviewing scans and discussing surgical procedures with his doctor friend when NXG was injured.

If that evil Sheng pulls something truly awful, he could end up losing his stake in the group altogether, and the shares might go to LYS, ultimately being managed by NXG. After all, Grandpa did say he was giving evil Sheng one last chance. So fingers crossed for NXG becoming her boss.

Am I reading too much into it, or are all those scenes of NXG’s dad feeling nauseous, getting headaches, and falling unwell just foreshadowing LYS eventually treating him, or at least diagnosing him or something?

I think Grandpa is transferring all the group shares he owns to him. Honestly, I kind of expected this after seeing how close they are. Grandpa clearly cares about him and also sees him as capable of leading the group. Technically, he’s not an heir but a transferee, since the shares are being transferred while Grandpa is still alive. That would make him the largest shareholder.
