1) That guy, is an alpha who's into omegas, get with the program. 2) Prostitution was BLATANTLY and HEAVILY implied when Nakhun said he had 'people sent up to his room' so yes, someone very much did mention it. 3) I'm not angry at you 😭 read my comments again in a cheerful tone I beg.

I think any place is a good place to be anti-john/anti-rape, but maybe it's harder to be misogynistic and 'pro-sex-work' when faced with someone who actually cares about prostitutes. Goddess forbid someone is invested in women's rights.

I don't imagine you watch a genre in which 'dub-con' and 'non-con' are a huge part because you think rape is okay anymore than I do?? I think ABO is interesting because it's an exploration of how we'd handle sex based discrimination if it affected men and if, that which in reality are more so taught and imposed gender expectations, had more tangible inately biological origins. It's like double patriarchy, it makes the violence more blatant and it being ficticious makes it more fun to debate because it's all hypothetical when the inhabitants on the abo universe aren't quite fully human. I think it's quite transferable between human feminism and abo omega emancipation to hold the ideological position that prostitution is monetised rape and for the topic to be brought up is always saddening, but in abo universe an interesting opportunity to debate how being abo would affect this. We can guess how misogynistic the general public is towards women, but does it transfer to male omegas? There are many problems that arise if we try to apply the (to us) more animalistic nature of the estrous cycle to an otherwise very human-like society. How DO you manage the state of rut/heat in a way that is compatible with human attitudes towards sexuality (wherein we rightfully widely acknowledge a huge vulnerability and emotional complexity that should not be violated but mutually desired and enjoyed whilst taking our general social norms, values and expectations into consideration). Let's say having sex during a rut/heat period IS imperative to an alpha/omega's health (this isn't true of animals, but it is a common trope within the genre) would it then be any less unethical to resort to prostitution and human trafficking? Perhaps ideally we would think up a different courting system, there would be a stronger imperative for alphas and omegas to constantly be in a relationship of sorts (and also a dangerous motive to stay in an abusive relationship), if only that of friends with benefits. However then you'd have to remember that there is an underlying hierarchy that is weaponised against omegas, much like patriarchy is weaponised against women. What would be the consequences? How do we prevent violence against omegas? Hell how do we even get to a point where we can agree that an omega shouldn't have to commodify their bodies, because it is inhumane? I know my stance, I'm not optimistic about yours. These are debates I enjoy. You don't seem to be enjoying yourself though.

I'm not gonna start sending flowers to an alpha who avoided one opportunity to rape someone (someone he already bit without his knowledge or consent for that matter). whatever reformed man he claims to be now doesn't change the fact that he has canonically raped people before without any reprecussion, and I think it's fair to find that shocking and horrible.

One Nakhun never said he bought anybody, two never said they were omegas, and three sex work doesn't equal rape…
One, he definitely very overtly insinuated it. Two, it's canonically dangerous for him to be with betas but also it's very likely that omegas make up the overwhelming majority of the pornoprostitutional industry. And three, gp talk actual survivors and pick up an actually feminist book, dipshit.

Don't be dense, what do you think 'having' someone 'sent' up to your room means?

In what world is a man that bought people to endure what he does to them 'good at sex' – if anything there is a case to be made that he'd be bad at sex, he's never been intimate with someone he respected enough to treat them with humanity.

He speaks of it as he has always done it whenever he 'felt' like it... Misomeganists like that should be persecuted…
I'm trying to joke about it, and obviously it's a fictional character so it's not real. But I was flabbergasted, I think it's meant to be read as romantic, because it would mean Phatsa is the one and only person he's ever been romantically interested in... but in doing so he also admits that he's had people 'sent up to his room' instead, meaning he's used omegas selling themselves, he bought human beings so he could do whatever he wanted to their bodies... Such a messed up writing choice. He could have just had ONS with mutual attraction or intimacy with friends who were up to it, in fact I think that would have better achieved the desired effect.

And what is the 'service'? What is money 'buying'? If you're buying an omega to have sex with them, a financial transaction occured in lieu of consent, so it's not consensual; that's rape. Compensation was paid for it, but it's still rape.

If I were an omega, I'd be devastated too if I found out the alpha that 'accidentally' bit me has never been in a relationship before and instead reveals he was a serial rapist. That's so messed up. How could you be happy with an alpha that thinks it's okay to buy omegas, if he thinks it's okay to coerce other omegas like that, what can you expect in your future together?

Title Love upon a Time Spoiler
I have not read the novel, but wouldn't it be so cool if Pim turned out to be the one behind the Opium dealings and the one to have framed Klao's father? I think it would be a very powerful message that both Klao from the past and Nakhun from the future, fail to deduce the one behind it all is a woman, because even now, in such progressive times, we dismiss and underestimate women, let them fade into the background (in BL series especially) and assume only a man could conduct such a major plot.

It's a chinese series because it was shot in China with (mostly) chinese actors and crew, the way to bypass censorship…
The PRC government is unfortunately regressing to enforce somewhat pre-revolutionary patriarchal confucian ideals. More so than the government itself however, I recommend looking at the people. Chinese social media networks are readily accessible from abroad, people travel in and out of the country with ease (visa requirements are decreasing), and so long as the people of china are interested in same-sex romances, they will seek out and/or create same-sex romances. Just maybe not through official national servers at the moment.

there's plenty of viewers in china. just because something is released by a singaporean company doesn't mean it's only accessible to people living in singapore. you can turn on a vpn in china to get more out of your viki account, same way people in the west turn on their vpn when they can't find the movie they're looking for on netflix. that being said, there's also unoffcial streaming sites available in china where you can watch this even without using vpn. it's just not on tv, or on official chinese streaming platforms.
