I loved it until Song Han suddenly changed personality and the show moved from interesting political drama to angst-ridden melodrama... It just seemed like poor character development.

Episodes 11-20 are a drag if you hate angst like I do, but the rest is fabulous...

Does anyone else find Eunuch Qin's voice really really annoying?

The voice dubbing overall is poor, but not really a problem except Eunuch Qin's voice. I have to keep muting all his scenes...

Why is there a cloudy filter over so much of the show? It's not brightness, but actually makes those scenes really foggy without any explanation of why.

This show is almost perfect. The script, the plot, the characters, the actors, the production, the OST.

Finally an FL who is brilliant and a script that empowers women in so many ways (and rips apart sexist tropes so well!)

She is playing childish in this. I didn't mind her as much in Moonlight, for example.

I really want to enjoy this show but why does it have to have yet another ditsy airhaid FL? The CGI and narrative are quite fun otherwise and the other characters are interesting. So why make the FL so childish?

I was surprised at how sweet the romance was... The side love stories weren't as great, and the Misunderstanding was frustrating, but otherwise quite a lovely show.

I'm not really sure what the purpose of the show is? the plot is lacking... And the FL seems really spoilt / immature. The fall out at the end shouldn't have been resolved because it was clear that she would never have understood what he's been through... and her constant need to cheer him up instead of actually supporting him annoyed me. Even before that break up does she ever just listen to him at all? When he tells her about the cut on his arm, she makes a joke...

Maybe I just relate to the ML's life too much...

I'm only on ep 4 but don't get it. If she makes her living off being a screenwriter shouldn't she better at narrative and understanding the characters and history? otherwise how would she have gotten the job?

There is so much I love about this drama, but the ignorance is incredibly frustrating.

- Li Yan has to be one of the most annoying characters ever - how can you be so ridiculously naive and annoying? Closely followed by the 3rd Prince.
- Why are the main "good" characters so unaware of how the world works? Like the last 10 episodes make no sense because somehow they don't know how to counterattack or prepare.
- Is there no political education? Why did those elders never pass down their knowledge or write these things down?
- And why didn't they properly defeat the Disha 20 years ago?

Otherwise I love the chemistry between the main leads - their dynamic is so special and I don't think anything like it exists anywhere else.

Why is the fl voice dubbing so awful? She's a strong and determined character, so why does she have to have a whiny childish voice?

Loved this! So different from a usual plotline, the fl is actually interesting and the creative storytelling is beautifully done.

A smart and capable female lead for a change. ZJY always plays such refreshing roles well.

I don't understand. Even if the 2 boys were away, could they not have visited? Singapore in particular isn't that far away and it seems strange they wouldn't come back at least once in all those years...

The premise is ridiculous - and so much could be resolved by setting clear boundaries.

Isn't that scene a dream sequence from grief? I can't understand how she can still be alive if he is crying so much...

What do I watch after this show? Nothing compares to this show, and everything I watch afterwards has felt so empty. I don't think I'll be able to forget this show, that's how impactful and powerful it is.
