What a cute couple! Fans of BW are losing their shit; so many fansites deactivating. I guess it’s good, though, because it means he can move on and be supported by people who actually appreciate his work.

Did not expect FirstKhao and JoongDunk together! Although I guess maybe I should say DunkJoong? According to Joong…
Seriously though, the trailer looks good, the series seems like fun and after Jojo directed Only Friends, I am excited to watch more of his work!

personally, not even Mark and Yaya can make me get hooked into this drama.I'm dropping it, maybe I'll just wait…
I might do the same… At least then you can kind of skip through the episodes and finish the series quickly without having to come back every week for the next 2 episodes hahah

Title My Precious
seems like a fair question to me.Of the 15 male actors listed, at least 7 of them have had male lovers in one…
I don’t feel like it’s stupid to consider that it might be BL or have BL themes; frankly a lot of people know certain actors BECAUSE of BL. Sure they don’t only act in BL but, again, not everyone knows that. Not only that but also GMMTV often includes such themes. Not sure why everyone is so haughty about it. Seeing certain actors’ names, most will expect certain genres (e.g. romance, crime fiction, historical fiction, thriller, etc. depending on the actor).

Of course they could have just searched their query better and they almost certainly would have realised… but it’s not wrong to ask a question about a series on the page for that series, right?

Before I get into this… Those who are watching, do you think it would be rated much lower if it wasn’t Mark and Yaya? Just want to prepare myself LOL this isn’t the kind of plot I would usually watch but after waiting so long for Mark and Yaya to pair up again, I think I have to hahaha

We deserve an Alan Gaipa special!!!!

Haha anyway, this drama REALLY excels at setting tones; the chicken shop seems so warm and inviting, especially in the opening scene of the first episode. The scene in the market with Gaipa’s mother is thoroughly heartbreaking, you can feel Gaipa’s pain; it feels like you are there, seeing everything unfold before your eyes.

I get where you’re coming from but sometimes people don’t have the familiarity with certain topics; there are even questions you might ask that others think have obvious answers but it’s never nice to be responded to unkindly when you are making an effort to learn/better understand something^^

It’s clear Maggi didn’t understand… They were asking for clarification from other viewers. Of course YOU specifically don’t need to explain but why comment rudely? Where else should they ask for clarification? And in the end you wrote so many words that you may as well have just explained. I am tired of rude answers to harmless questions.

They were talking about family, as in relation. I don't remember the exact word, but WQ sees ZY as little brother…
Yes, it is definitely homophobic. Funnily enough I was actually going to use a comparison to race to reinforce that; there are a lot of similarities there, for sure, so I’m glad you touched on that :)

That’s the fun thing about media; I see where you’re coming from and agree but I think he isn’t choosing denial, I think he the denial is subconscious. Part of him won’t even let himself entertain the idea that Yuan likes him but it isn’t intentional, it’s rooted in the kind of homophobia we’ve already mentioned. And that is compounded by him truly having considered Yuan as a brother and even almost a son for so many years. I can understand how such a relationship would feel uncomfortable, less possible and almost immoral (even if it isn’t) to Wei Qian than to Yuan who, again, never really viewed Wei Qian as a sibling.

In regards to the lack of interest in relationships, I also think that is more to do with the trauma surrounding his mother + becoming essentially a parent at a young age and still feeling like that needs to be his main focus, his main role. But not considering relationships at all would definitely explain his lack of consideration about what kind of people he is attracted to!

I don’t they meant that he forgot, per se; it’s that he considers Yuan as his brother, not an adopted brother. In the same vein, there are people who become very upset if you call their step-siblings “step-siblings” rather than just “siblings”. Yuan’s response is used as a direct juxtaposition—where Wei Qian has always thought of Yuan as a brother, and treats him as he does Li Li, Yuan has never really thought of Wei Qian as a brother. He thought of him as a saviour and as someone he loves but not someone he loves as or like a brother.

Perhaps you haven’t come across this mindset but it is not an uncommon mindset. There are a lot of things people can “accept” so long as they aren’t impacted. It’s like; “it’s okay for someone who isn’t close to me to be gay” or “it’s easier to accept it when it doesn’t happen in my immediate circle”.

Why did WQ tell WZY in Ep 5 that being gay was only ok for "an adopted brother"? At which point WZY replied "I…
It’s like—a lot of people can “accept” gay people if it isn’t their kin, especially their child, who is gay. As long as it doesn’t closely impact them (whether that’s having to be near someone who is gay, having to think about whether others will judge them because they are related to someone who is gay, etc.). This is unfortunately a very common attitude.

But in terms of the thematic reasons behind the comment, it was to show that Wei Qian really hadn’t thought of Yuan as anything but a brother, and more than that, that he didn’t differentiate between Yuan and Li Li. To him, they are the siblings he has raised like a father. And Yuan’s response was basically meaning that he never really thought of Wei Qian as a real brother in the first place.

Anyone know if him and/or First are doing anything new?
I believe they will be for the second half of this year? But nothing has been officially announced. They keep mentioning that they want to do a rom com but I don’t necessarily know that it means they will be doing one, haha!

I think no matter what any feels about this movie, the cinematography can’t be ignored. It is filmed so beautifully.

Honestly I didn’t feel like this was awful… There were definitely a few things that were tone deaf or not as explored or reflected upon as they could have been but it was an enjoyable, simple series with decent acting. The main characters have a clear plot, the side characters are frankly hilarious and Chon’s mum gives some pretty good advice.

I know someone hate homophobic characters no matter what—but I don’t think it’s a bad thing to sometimes have homophobic characters and I don’t think it’s a bad thing for them to grow and learn, and for that to be accepted. How boring and entirely unrealistic to only have or want characters that are endlessly accepting of anything and everything…
