It had a lot of potential but it felt too rushed. If we watch only the show without reading the novel, a lot of the context is lost. We needed either longer episodes or more episodes. A lot of good things about the show but also a lot of missed potential which is sad.

I hope we get more unapologetically toxic shows like these. I loved it!

Everything Lu Feng did was out of his extremely obsessive love for Yi Chen, he has loved him since day 1. But Fan Xiao is sick in the head, he did all those things to Shu Lang just because he wanted to mess up an innocent person, he wasn't even in love. Lu Feng was physically aggressive in his love, Fan Xiao was dangerously manipulative to someone he didn't even love.

Yes, it's so good, I'm loving it so far. The black flag in it is similar to Fan Xiao, he's also a master manipulator :)

Same here! All the things Lu Feng did was out of his extremely obsessive love for Yi Chen, since day 1. Fan Xiao is so evil he did all those things despite not being in love with Shu Lang in the beginning, he's truly sick in the head, he just wanted to mess up an innocent person. I love the variety of red-black flags we're getting nowadays, with Lu Feng, Fan Xiao, and now Jane Patrick from Don't Be Too Emotional. We all need therapy :)

Tee is a better actor, and Jane Patrick is the main character in the novel, and a very interesting one at that, so he shines a lot. But Heng is also good too! People who are saying he can't act at all, I don't agree with them

The show didn't perfectly encapsulate all the elements of the novel, it's very surface-leveled like you said, maybe due to budget constraints, it makes me sad. But the novel is a masterpiece.

I've really, really loved the Chinese danmei novel Sammy's Children's Day. If you've watched the show, you know the theme. The show covers hardly one-third of the novel. The novel is sooo much better than the show.

He's definitely not a bad actor, it's just that the crying scenes look a bit awkward to me. But it's common for crying scenes to look awkward in many shows, unless it's a god tier level actor or director.
