I think she saw he was different because of his family. She felt he needed her. Her personality makes her want to help. I think it started out as just friendship.

It seemed like friendship to me. Qiao Xi was so quiet and it was obvious he was not used to having friends. With Cherry's personality, she is a hero in his eyes in the way she stood up for those she felt needed help . She made him feel special and not just a substitute son the way his parents treated him. Of course, she is going to be special to him. Ying Tao gave his mother some advice which showed she was aware of how he was treated. It is totally believable that she would write him because she wanted to keep in touch with him. There was a special bond.

There was some negative comments that I did not agree. You can see for yourself. Some watched only a few episodes and dropped with low rating. I have a hard time getting into some dramas but not this one. I am so touched by the bonds between the leads and the friends. Ying Taos selfless love for all her friends is incredible. She stands by them even when if one pushes her away.
I read some of the reviews. I suppose it's a matter of perspective. I think the first episode set the stage for the close friendship in the group and Ying Tao's brave and uplifting personality. I didn't see the 9-year-old Ying Tao as having a crush on anyone, but rather as someone who would help others. There was a special bond, but not a crush at that point.
Castaway Diva and When Life Gives You Tangerines are nothing like this.
It is not so stressful to watch because you will see the both leads face the conflicts with confidence. I was afraid to watch too but it was satisfying.
Are they pushed up by likes?
