I'm trying to be patient with this one. The female character seems oblivious and self- absorbed...or maybe I have missed something in her story. Is it trauma? If so, okay. that explains it. I don't know, but I find the character exasperating. I'll give it a few more episodes. There has to be more because how in the heck can they get 32 episodes out of this?
This is shaping up pretty well. However, one has to pay close attention because they weave seamlessly between past and present. Therefore, it can be extremely confusing. I have no interest in the lead female character reuniting with the lead male character. I hope they write away that relationship. From what I've seen so far, the ML has been highly underestimated by the other players. PHS brings a calm, measured presence that I'm loving. The character is ordinary and not over the top. He doesn't reveal much but carries much within. Also, I suspect that there is a part of the ML's story that is hidden, because why would they set-up a random person. It will be interesting how this unfolds...I am rooting for the ML. The others need to crash and burn in their devious behavior. I just hope the writers do not forsake the story.
Damn! What was that. And they all knew! There had better be some fancy writing going forward. No amount of crafty wordsmithing can make up for such a cruelty. And it is only episode one! On their last night together, she didn't want him to use protection. If she ends up pregnant, I am going to dismantle my computer. I hope he gets revenge and bring them all down. Poor baby.
Mercy. These comments. If you didn't read the novel, it was a good yet sad ending. If you read the novel, then you know what happened in the epilogue. This drama did not include the epilogue...thank goodness.
They ended up together and left to live away from others. He is not the same due to trauma. It was a happier ending than the novel. I'm discovering that readers of the novel are tainting the drama with information that a non-reader of the novel will not know. This story did not include the epilogue.
Exactly. While heartbreaking, the drama ended with them moving away to start their lives. They survived, thank goodness. They carry the trauma of war, yet they survived! It is a good ending. They left the book to tell their story.
Wow. What a heartbreaking story. I'm glad the leads survived.. However the trauma of war forever marks their lives. My heart ached for Ben, as well as for all the people who lost loved ones. Life goes on even with the mark of tragedy. Although I read the epilogue to the novel, I'm glad this story ended with them deciding to live their life together.
You know. I really like this drama. HOWEVER, they keep lying to each other about how they are doing. They talk about being there for each other. Then they lie. They talk about being there for each other, then they lie. And it goes on and on. I am so tired of the trope of "I love you so much that I didn't want you to know." Bull. Otherwise this is a good drama.
This is such a good drama. I just don't have the words. It's refreshing to see characters take responsibility for their own stuff. Love the tight, focused storytelling.
The first two episodes were awful. Will give it two more viewings before deciding to drop it. Hopefully it gets better. There are some seasoned, good actors in this drama. Hopefully the story will honor them and their talent. However, I have never been a fan of Lee Min Ho's acting, which may color how I view this beginning. Let's see what the next two episodes bring.
Went back to watch ep 12. In an earlier episode, his reporter friend mentioned their prior engagement in a war zone. It makes sense that the ML would gravitate into that direction. What didn't make sense was her showing up there. In its totality, this was a great drama. Overall it is a 10 rating. Give it a try. Come to your own conclusions. Make sure to pay attention to each little detail.
This was an excellent drama, and I will try to discuss without spoilers. This is my take on the show. Of course, no drama is perfect and although, I wondered about a certain story choice in ep 12, it was needed because each character was allowed a healing moment...an acknowledgment that they could be loved. They were both victims to a lot of family mess. It was also nice to see how other people were affected by the crappy events and how they chose to move forward or not. I love the fact that every relationship didn't get a neat bow. For some trust had to be rebuilt. There was forgiveness, redemption and the knowledge that family relationships take time...and an acknowledge of the need to communicate in all relationships. I can go on and on. There were so many wonderful, life-giving nuggets in this show, which is a testament to the wonderful storytelling. Well done. The entire cast was amazing.
Just viewed the first episode. It holds a lot of promise. The writers provided a tiny glimpse of a backstory for the two leading characters. There are some typical tropes in the first episode, but nothing to decrease my interest. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds.
Sweet heavens. This show gets better and better. Ep. 10 was a chef's kiss on many fronts. Many answers provided. Some were not, but that's okay. Life is ambiguous at times. Also there is a hint of redemption for Park Do Jae, who will of course have to pay for the consequences of his actions. For me the question becomes, how do they wrap up this story for the two leads and the other affected characters to experience new life? Will the folks who put this tragedy in place pay the consequences? With that said, I hope they do not play out the 'you know what' for too long, and please don't use the 'go-to' tropes of other shows. I love the fullness of this storytelling.
Poor baby.
This story did not include the epilogue.
Now the wait for the next episode. Scream.
