I've struggled with Kdramas in the past few years and I think it has to do with marketability and them getting too westernized/packaged for international audience. Especially the cutting down of the episode numbers and getting rid of the "fillers" that made them more full.
They became more of a product than they once were and lost a lot of their charm imo. Ik some were well-made (even some of the best were made at this time) but as a mass and also in terms of romantic dramas and etc. they just sort of lost their edge.
They used to be the best. I hope they take a step back and reevaluate.
I have SO MUCH hope riding on this one, it better not be disappointing.
