I’m not watching this, but going by how terrible the reviews and comments are, why did they even bother making…
The fandom for the original is pretty big so I believe the producers thought it would be an easy money grab. In the end we all tuned in out of curiosity so they somehow got their wish, even if people dislike something, producers still make money by us tuning in. This theory of it just being made for money felt confirmed to me by how aimless this series felt, like they had no idea what they even wanted to do with this new series, there was no real point to it especially nothing new that the original series didn't already deliver. No new lessons, no real expansion to the overall series universe. So my conclusion remains..money.
Glad most people seem to agree that it's a writing issue. I'd also say a direction issue. The original had many different directors with each their own little spice each episode. The intrigue here is missing even though the actors are doing great. If I were to describe the series in one word it would be "aimless". Which is what I felt from the second episode onward and was never changed.
After seeing Keifer attack JJ despite saying he loves her I dropped this. She should not be with any of these boys, actually she should run as far away from these toxic abusers as possible. I'm not doing this. It's badly written fan fiction made into a series so the expectations were low from the start but I do not tolerate this romantic plot line on the least bit.
I mean idk what I expected having watched all the movies back in the day, it's still as bland as it was then and for some reason they managed to make it even more convoluted. No chemistry, no consistency and nobody talks nor acts like students would. They all sound like adults in the 2000s. The source material may be old but this drama also feels old, like they tried to capture the older movies which is not a good idea.
i have a serious question why no one thought of taking jin woo to a therapist!!!!!!!!!!
Usually I'd say it's because South Korean mental health system is thoroughly flawed and still VERY stigmatized, people wouldn't think of it. But then again our CEO woman went to a psychiatrist herself for help so I am just as confused about this.
I definitely only finished it because I hate dropping something I was once obsessed with (and cause I love Kasamatsu Sho) but for anyone for whom even the first season was just kinda meh I'd recommend not bothering.
Getting through the last half of this season took me weeks. Rough watch, a bit disappointing. A lot of scenes turned really stupid and nonsensical for no reason. What started as an interesting thriller just kinda turned into something that felt utterly ridiculous.
