Does anybody know whether the ending’s gonna be sad or happy?
no because this story isn't based on a novel.

Honestly, this episode had some of Phob’s best dialogue, and every single line felt perfectly placed. Without these scenes, I can totally see why a lot of people would unfairly turn against him. So I completely understand why some viewers on my timeline are defending him.
At the same time, I also understand Thin returning the ring. Neither we nor Phob should expect Thin to process and understand everything overnight. Thin will only be able to come back when he sees that all this pain was worth enduring—when he actually witnesses genuine change, rather than simply being told about it.
Thin’s ideology is fluctuating, and honestly, that’s completely natural. His heart says, “If someone is genuinely willing to take a step toward change, I’ll admire them.” But his mind has been conditioned for years to believe that his ideals must align with the continuation of the monarchy. That responsibility hasn’t disappeared; it has simply taken a different shape. Right now, Thin is caught between his family and the love he has for Phob—between an inherited duty on one side and a love he feels with his whole heart on the other.
And there’s no reason for us, or for Thin himself, to question the sincerity of Phob’s love.
Emotionally, Thin was hit incredibly hard. But was that what Phob intended? No. Phob even told him, “Don’t leave. I’ll come back and explain everything to you.” But circumstances unfolded in a way that took that opportunity away, and everything fell apart before he could explain himself.
I also understand Phob. His goal was much bigger than an individual relationship. I don’t question that he loves Thin, but what he was fighting for was freedom and equality—not betrayal, and certainly not hurting Thin. He even tried to protect Thin, hoping that once he had the chance to explain everything, Thin would eventually be able to forgive him.
We’ve already seen how compassionate and understanding Thin is. If circumstances had been different, I genuinely believe he would have understood Phob much more easily. Because even now, despite all the shock and pain, Thin understands what Phob is fighting for. He knows that despite being labeled a “rebel,” Phob never intended to hurt the country or destroy the ideals he believes in.
But then.. if Thin understands all of that, why did he return the ring? Why can’t he forgive him?
Precisely because he understands.
Thin knows that this isn’t the right time to forgive. The wound is still fresh, and the trust between them has been shattered. Understanding and forgiveness are not the same thing. Right now, Thin’s mind understands, but his heart hasn’t had the chance to heal yet. And that doesn’t make him a traitor, nor does it make him narrow-minded. It makes him human.
I’m on both of their sides. I’m neither against Phob nor against Thin. Emotionally, Thin was hurt more deeply because he never got the chance to have that conversation and was suddenly forced to confront the truth. Phob, on the other hand, knew what he was doing from the beginning. We also saw that his actions weren’t without thought or intention—but he simply failed to explain himself in time.
The biases I’m seeing online right now—whether it’s people blindly defending Phob or people reducing everything to Thin being the sole victim—feel equally unfair to me.
That’s exactly what makes this series so good: no one is completely right, and no one is completely wrong. Thin isn’t weak, and Phob isn’t a traitor. They’re both moving toward what they believe is right, just at different speeds of understanding and acceptance.
And honestly, that’s what makes this story feel so much deeper and more memorable.
Now I’m just waiting for the next episode to see when Thin will finally be able to witness the change for himself—and make his own choice.

This isn't a fictional story where the writer can choose who's right or wrong. It's based on actual historical events, the 1932 Siamese Revolution. This is literally what happened. The military did take over, the monarchy did lose power, and yes, the military regime that followed had its own problems. But that's not the show's opinion, that's history. The show isn't saying the military was better. It's just showing what actually happened. The show's job isn't to pick a side; it's to tell a story that really happened and let us feel what it must have been like for the people who lived through it.

What really got to me in this series was the way the families reacted.

I saw some people on MDL wondering how these characters could be so open-minded for that time period. But honestly, I don’t think I’d call it “open-mindedness.” When something is portrayed in such a genuine and sincere way, you don’t necessarily need to be open-minded to believe it. Some of these reactions don’t come from being progressive, nor are they necessarily something that should be judged by today’s standards. They’re simply human. They come from accepting someone’s feelings for what they are.
And I think what I loved most was that the series never tried to make that acceptance feel overly dramatic or preachy. It felt like showing affection, understanding someone, and respecting the choices and happiness of a person you love wasn’t necessarily something strange or unbelievable to them. Even when they didn’t completely agree with the situation, they could still see the feelings and the person behind it. That naturalness is what made their reactions so believable to me.
I also really loved the contrast between the families. Not everyone sees things the same way. Some people are still deeply influenced by status, tradition, and what society expects from them, while others are able to look beyond those boundaries and simply see the person in front of them. That’s why I don’t think you can just label certain characters as “open-minded” and leave it at that. Their reactions come from their own experiences, relationships, and understanding of what it means to care for someone.
And honestly, the families in this series really felt like families. You could actually feel the love, the protectiveness, and the willingness to sacrifice for their children’s happiness and well-being. For me, that was even more touching than the acceptance of the relationship itself. Being a family doesn’t necessarily mean agreeing with every choice your child makes. Sometimes it means that even when you don’t fully understand them or have your own concerns, their happiness and safety still matter to you.
Maybe that’s why the families’ reactions stayed with me so much. The series doesn’t turn love and acceptance into some big, idealistic statement. It mostly shows them through people’s actions. And when something is portrayed with that much sincerity and humanity, I don’t think we need to call it “open-mindedness” to believe it.

i've just finished the first episode, and honestly, i lost track of how many hours it actually took me–time just slipped away. the acting is nothing short of mesmerizing; every micro-expression, every fleeting glance carries so much weight that you can't look away. out of curiosity, i asked my AI whether this could be rooted in reality, and it told me that a similar incident actually took place in thailand in 1932. that sent a chill down my spine. so this isn't just fiction–it's history wrapped in flesh and bone, with a thread of romance woven through it that makes everything more intricate, more agonizingly beautiful.
the symbolism of the hibiscus flower stood out so vividly in the first episode–like a quiet promise or a warning, i'm not sure which yet. as phob's ideals inevitably shift and evolve, i desperately hope that one thing remains unshaken: the words he once spoke to thin. i want those words to be his anchor, his north star–the version of himself that never betrays who he was at his core.
i'm holding onto hope for a happy ending, even though i know the road there will be paved with loss and sacrifice. but if they can just stay by each other's side–through the wreckage, through the silence, through everything–then maybe that alone is the greatest victory life could ever offer them. i truly, deeply hope they make it.
