i don't mind a flirty FL but is she completely indifferent to others' opinions so much that she sees no issue…
I guess the charm of their dynamics from the novel maybe didn't quite come through, but yeah Mei Zhuyu allows his wife to live a single life married to him. In fact, I think in the drama, in Mei Zhuyu's confession he also promised her she can do whatever she fancies similar to the novel
The male lead’s job is to anchor the emotional core of the story, not just rack up scenes. Sure, secondary characters might get more scenes, but that doesn’t mean they carry the story. The emotional arc between the leads is what gives the plot its weight. You can flood the drama series with side stories, but if the central relationship doesn’t land, the whole thing falls flat.
how convenient it is to have meizhuyu's power to deal with kid's tantrum...
in the novel, Wu Zhen asked him how he did it, he said he beat the kid, something like that, which made Wu Zhen shudder, I better behave myself. Mei Zhuyu in the novel, he was a very strict trainer during his time in the sect. He would beat up disciples for not doing things right.
The war between celestial masters and demons drives the story forward, but I don’t think it’s the main theme. Instead, there’s a deeper, richer narrative at play. The slower first half, which didn’t have much plot movement, likely served to establish key truths, characters, and world-building elements that will reveal the true heart of the story in the second half, which should be an emotional and happy one.
Snake Lord calls Cat Lord "Kitty" and "Little Kitty" and Cat Lord calls Snake Lord, "Snakey" They actually brought out many of the novel too, things said and done but just put it together differently. Too much sex, her waist hurts. I hear he's quite the brute at night. Not just at night. I bet the crisis will resolve and leave several happy episodes to end.
Is the half of the drama better than the earlier episodes ?
I wouldn't say it's better, it's more dramatic, it's probably what people are used to, but the first half is really nice too, you really can't have one without the other the way the story is told, think of pair of shoes, you need both to walk properly. I supposed if the person just wants action and they can skip to the second half, but then you're watching action without appreciating the characters or the meaning behind the story.
