I’m guessing that as episode 25 marks the unraveling of the long-shrouded mystery surrounding Chang’an and the Demon Underworld, coinciding with the reawakening of Changxi, dormant for 18 years. Mei Zhuyu and Wu Zhen clash—Mei’s personal conviction to rid the world of demons and protect those he loves collides with Wu’s duty and loyalty to the Demon Underworld as Cat Lord, the woman whose love broke his Taoist vow of detachment in an ironic twist unveiled by her true identity. Trust between them is fractured, and their love shattered. A devastating collision that shatters Mei’s reality. But as deeper truths emerge, they discover they were destined to fight side by side.
There's no such thing as too close when filming Xu Kai. I can't help but stare at his long, lush cascading eye lashes. How can a person be born with so many beautiful features. He’s like a walking work of art.
In the bathtub kiss scene, you can even see the stubble on Mei Zhuyu’s chin—this kind of realism fits the vibe in this drama. I thought Xu Kai was joking when he said he has to shave three times a day.
That bathtub kiss felt longer than what you usually get in dramas, def. no less. I wonder how many retakes they went through, and all the moments that probably got left on the cutting room floor. It was very classy.

I think it's just one of the many things that cat lord and snake lord face on the job, It helps you to understand the world they live in, also plot device, I mean everything in storytelling is plot device to move the story along, right? so she goes to look for Mei Zhuyu.
I think this is the first time I saw a good wedding scenes that just feel so complete. The couple falling in love…
mei zhuyu even proposed twice, if that isn't sincere and romantic what you described, the drama captured the essence of the romance that is in the novel
The bone relic that they keep talking about is like something that belongs to a demon right? Both mzy and wz were…
There was a type of spirit called ‘Undecaying Corpse’, formed when a person died in extreme suffering, their resentment too heavy to dissipate after death. These spirits’ flesh would rot but their bones wouldn’t decay. These undecaying bones would turn into many crystal-clear stones, with the red point in the middle being concentrated resentment. These were called ‘Undecaying Bones’.
The Undecaying Corpses would take these resentment-filled ‘Undecaying Bones’ and give them to ordinary people. If an ordinary person wore an ‘Undecaying Bone’, they would die an unnatural death within half a month.
These spirits that took pleasure in harming people were what Wu Zhen hated most. They were mostly formed after human deaths, lacking rationality and only knowing how to harm people. As the ‘Cat Lord’, dealing with these foul things that snuck into Chang’an was part of Wu Zhen’s duty.
“We don’t know how many ‘Undecaying Bones’ are out there. We need to find them quickly, or more people will die,” Liu Taizhen said.
Upon learning that Mei Zhuyu possessed an Unrotting Bone, she wasted no time. No matter what, she had to get her hands on that Unrotting Bone first, lest Mei Zhuyu carelessly fall victim to that ill-fated bone.
There was the scene where she pretended to slip and fall on him to get stone from him.
Mei Si is starting to grow on me for real. This guy thinks simple, and also sincere with what he says and does.…
Mei Zhuyu is clearly an upright person. His return to Changxi Palace showcased his integrity and fortitude, especially through his dialogue with his old master. That exchange revealed the depth of his character—and it’s obvious he didn’t inherit those values from Changxi itself. He either was born with that moral compass—some people just have a natural predisposition toward virtue—or he was raised that way by his parents. Either way, his principles run deep. I think those scenes of him with his old master are worth revisiting.
I remember seeing this in XK's first drama, Song Wei Long was the ML, in the first half, he was part of the FL's…
I did not see him as part of a harem. That was not even a real role. His first real role was Story of Yanxi Palace where he actually plays a real character.
it is classic Tang dynasty for noble ladies. first time I saw it, I thought the same, but I've come to recognize it now. it's beautifully done in this drama.
she's actually already a recognized talent but it is her first drama, but she also does movies, I think. Her deep gazes are captivating esp. she has otherworldly look and she's very young, so her face still has that youthful glow.
I read a comment somewhere:MZY, can't talk well but can kiss well 😆
same in the novel. mei zhuyu was a passionate lover at night, bruised her so many times in the novel, she wanted to test him to see if he's only like that at night, so she tried to lure him into bed in the day and discover, he's just as strong and passionate in the day
