I read the characters in this drama does not exist in the novel so unless someone has the script, no one knows how this story will unfold. In the orignal synopsis on MDL,, Si Yi disappears and returns when they all reunite back to Flower Street years later, so I think we wont' see her or much of her until last episodes my guess.

Since SiYi disappears, I expect we won't see much of her in coming episodes until they return to the Canal.

I think 7.0 is expected for this drama so it's good

the young actor Liu Heng Fu who plays Chen Rui stands out to me. Like Vanda, this is also his debut as a main character in a big drama. .

in the trailer I think she handed in blank sheet and didnt get to college. Did she give up because something else besides Grandma death? Grandma was her only motivation to succeed in life which is why her grades were so good. She wanted to become a teacher and return to be with Grandma. What else is inside her internal struggles. She is such a serious melancholy girl once full of hope and aspirations, and now what? She was always able to think through and figure out what to do, but how will she go on? Does she withdraw? Grandma was the anchor in her life, Does Fenghua remember what SiYi advice to her? SiYi motto in life is to not be humble, not to depend on anyone or owe anyone. The reason she chose not to to go Beijing for colelge ws the other one is free. Maybe she decided not to go to college due to financial issues.

I'm waiting to see how Fenghua transforms in the second half of this drama. Will Si Yi personality regress and Fenghua advanced?

I tink this drama will strike a chord with everyone in some way, shape, or form, transcending Chinese history and culture. I feel even if the situation isn’t something you’ve personally experienced, its universal themes will still resonate deeply.

She was going to buy her dad and mom something and herself a phone I think. The mother said she will save the money for her dowry. Later, didn't the mother break the piggy bank to use the money to pay for Grandma 's hospital bills? then later Feng Hua didn't mind at all, she sat there happy about the broken piggy bank as she pieced it back together, or did I get it wrong?

Northward is topping the Vlinkage charts 3 days in a row now, daily scoring above 80 Uusally a weekly total in high 500 or above 600 is considered excellent. Looking forward to second half of this drama as they transformed to see how the dynamics of these "kids" and their parents play out, and what other mysteries await SiYi, has her life already made the impact on the group or still to come?

I thought the policeman said to WangHe that they "watched him delete all the pictures and will punish him according to the law" so why did the family still have to pay him money?

SiYi's guilt of having left Grandma alone to borrow money to save Wang He. WangHe's guilt of having cause SiYi to leave grandma alone. All SiYi ever wanted in life was to keep her grandma safe and well. Fenghua's guilt of taking her brother to see a movie knowing that grandma was not feeling well and she was supposed to cook for them. In the wink of any eye, your life can be changed forever

SiYi is wise beyond her years, wiser than a lot of people chasing success and forgetting the most precious things in their life! For SiYi, family is more important than anything else in her life.

That was my initial thought too that she cried over losing WangHe but she could be crying for other reasons too. When she gave that look that devilish smile seeing them together and looked so confident, I thought Oh she got over him and thinks they belong together, as she slowly walked back to her home methodically closing door and curtains behind her,, she seemed so together, only to find her sit down in agony and tears. But there could be many reasons for her to cry. Her life has been very tough. She's a very smart girl and thinks ahead. I like the contrast between her and Fenghua, makes for interesting story. We know from the original synopsis that SiYI alhtough not the female lead, her role is a pivotal role in the narrative.

hmm I not so sure now that SiYI has given up on WangHe. When Fenghua asked her if she likes Wanghe, she was cryptic about it: "the word like is too much a luxury for me. AT LEAST FOR NOW, I don't deserve it", but then she also said she didn't' want to fall out with Fenghua over such trivial thing, but is it trivial? One thing is for sure, it is foreshadowing that these two will have a falling out later. Perhaps later when SiYi is ready for WangHe, he will have discovered Fenghua instead and she'll become jealous?
