JX still loves HT. She left him Dahuang. She lied that Dahuang didn't want to go with her. I saw a clip that Dahuang ran away to find Ji Xing.

Look at HT's eyes in the drama right after JX said:"I've been sleeping with you for so long".
This remark made HT's face change with irritation.

the translation said living with you, but it is sleeping with you.
now I understand why in the drama, his eyes look fierce for a moment after she said that

HT never intended to "hide" anything from JX.
Excerpt from novel:

I don't think JX thought that far in advance like 10 to 20 years. She's in survival mode. Her company cannot compete with Hanghai head on. She has to differentiate her product offering or find a niche market to participate in. She needs to grow revenues and make a return for her investor. No investor is going to keep pumping money into her company if goes nowhere. If she can come up with a product that can penetrate market and generate revenue and profits, she could go IPO, but it's not that easy. The best a startup like hers can hope for is to get bought and founders make some money and move on to another startup. Actually, XingChen is very succesful under JX. Even though they started five years late to market, they made great progress enough for Hanghai to be concern about them. HT always told JX not to worry about Hanghai because he had faith in her abilities and would support her startup not because he wants to throw money away, but because he has faith in her she will develop new technologies. Basically, HT was keeping XingChen like an R&D entity. So, I think HT was never going to merge because of his faith in JX, he wanted to give her full autonomy to innovate. If one day, he wanted to merge, he wanted to ease her into the idea, but he was forced to suddenly merge, and ZD playing mind games on JX fueled her mistrust of HT and led to her questioning everything he's done for her and whether he really loves her. Relationships are difficult when people work so much. This is HT's first serious relationship. JX's last relationship ended in break up.

HT said to his grandfather that "she has merits I don't have." JX impressed HT back in college when she gave the speech about her vision to be able to continue to innovate so technology can help those in rural areas. This is the reason HT's parents couldn't make it because the medical help was not available when their parents crashed in remote area. This is why HT went into medicine and science and spent years in Germany to develop R&D center. He's always had faith in her abilities, otherwise, he wouldn't waste his time on her.

Extract from novel:
JX: I thought you liked me, that's why I started to like you! Otherwise, I wouldn't have fallen in love with you!
HT was stunned: I do like you.
JX's heart felt like it had been pierced by a sharp blade. He understood exactly what she meant when she said "like" - it was love.

HT: 'suitable' is not a despicable word, neither is 'love' particularly noble. It's hard to find the right person. Three views, goals, time, ideas, spirit, interests, even just the ability to continue a conversation and share humor... it's hard to have everything match up, to be suitable. I really like you, that's true. As for the kind of love you want, I thought that it would slowly develop day by day, accumulating over time in the future. For me, it's impossible to have it all at once.

XK doesn't need to compete with them. Just be Xu Kai.

They both were scared. you could see it in her eyes (and body language) the whole time, frightened, lost, dispirited, dazed, angry, shaken, stunned, uncontrollable, shattered, provocative, smug, etc. and HT is more restrained so you would see fleeting moments of fear (of losing her), anxiety (feeling bad for her), desperation (what else can I say), and frustration (no amount of logic can seem to get through to her), anger (that she can be so unreasonable), and gentleness (console her) in his eyes. At one point, HT is breathing heavily because he's about to lose it and I went back to the novel, and it said it was that moment that it was a rare moment HT lost his restraint.
"HT's eyes turned cold and he finally lost his usual restraint."
"HT's face turned pale and his jaw twitched in restraint."
"HT's face changed with irritation."

The only element I felt in the novel I didn't pick up in the scene was that I got the feeling HT still has a sense of sarcasm about him when he said, ' you'll have to continue to be my bed companion" but that's just my interpretation since he said it with a smile. XK did it differently i'm sure the director choice. The emotions match the novel very closely. HT started out very calm too. the breakup scene is mesmerizing to watch, each time you rewatch it, you find something you didn't noticed before

It's good they didn't follow the novel exactly. JX cried like a baby all night long.
This drama adaptation has taken the novel and turned it into something beautiful to watch.

Oh, that translation should have been "I've been sleeping with you for so long", not "I've been with you for so long", that's when Han Ting's eyes flared up at her. And then he should have said "so you will have to continue your job as my bed companion", because now, he has 54% of the shares.

You have to watch that confrontation scene a few times. I noticed how fast Han Ting pulled the paper out of the drawer and toss out some with one hand. It's fast hand work. Poor Ji Xing, she looks like scared wild animal.

HT: IF XingChen is just a chess piece to me, why would I get the shares back? You can have it all if you want.

At this point, JX is too scared of him.

I'm really struggling to understand. He's offering her his shares of XingChen which he paid a heavy price to get back. I guess when a person feels violated by someone they love, it hurts too much.

I know you're just being funny but I know people who love cats so yikes!

This scene was supposed to end with "I want to break up with you." Maybe next ep. she'll say those words.

But HT didn't want to merge until they forced his hands, right? The Hanghai executive asked why she doesn't discuss merger with Mr. Han instead of him. JX has a habit of avoiding HT.

The Hanghai exec said: Actually, at first, it me who mentioned the idea of merger to Mr. Han but was rejected. Later, Mr. Han talked about the merger again and especially emphasized not annexed but organic integration."

HT said to Grandpa: JX has a lot of merits I don't have.

Grandpa: Your hobbies, perspectives, values, and even love angles are so different. Of course, this is the reason you're attracted to each other now. But as time goes by, this is what will cause contradictions between you. You have opposite tempers. Which one of you will concede?

HT: No one is born to be a perfect couple. I believe in our love.

(But HT, your definition of love is different than JX's idea of love.)
