I thought he dubbed himself in She and her perfect husband?
SHPH and BCE the audio was done during filming. ABAY, the audio was all done post-production. He goes to a studio and has to learn the dubbing process with special equipment; it has to be done right so the audio in sync with lips. It's something he has to learn to do with help of the director to guide him because it is his first time. I wonder why some dramas use the audio recorded during filming and another drama dub all of it afterwards, perhaps to improve the overall quality for various reasons.
Post-production dubbing doesn’t use the original audio recorded during filming. Instead, actors re-record their lines in a studio to match the lip movements of their characters. Process The actor watches the scene and matches their speech to the lip movements of their character. They wear headphones to hear the original audio and deliver their lines in sync. Specialized equipment ensures precise timing. The director guides them to maintain consistency with the original performance.
In an interview, XK said after the dubbing that he had regrets that he was not more passionate (but he always has regrets). But I don't think he can change it too much since he still has to match the re-recorded audio to match his original lip movements during filming. Like Xu Kai says, he takes everything step at a time, and get better and better.
Dubbing director for ABAY: https://x.com/XuKai_Soso0305/status/1808235671670456436/photo/1 "This was Teacher Xu's first-time dubbing. On the first day of work, I was as nervous and excited as he was, fearing that I could not help him present the best Han Ting. But after the first day of getting along, I felt relieved. I deeply felt that Mr. Xu came with his love for Han Ting and his own seriousness and responsibility. During the days of dubbing, Mr. Xu discussed with me word by word and considered the tone and voice of the lines, striving to present the most perfect Han Ting to everyone. Recalling the last day of dubbing, Mr. Xu Kai finished the last scene of the extra episode and stared at the screen with empathy and tears. I firmly believe that the simplest way to move people is to exchange sincerity for sincerity."
Not only was this Xu Kai's first full audio postproduction dubbing experience ever. He learned the dubbing process and completed the task at the same time in matter of days ("learning on the job", ""learning as you go along"), he finished the entire drama again. He did this nearly six months after filming of ABAY had wrapped and pretty much right after BCE filming had wrapped. He did this in matter of days.
I agree, this version is better suited for the series.
They really only knew each other for brief time in college, maybe just one semester in the winter to collaborate for the national robot competition. It's understandable that he never forgot her. There was never any closure so that spark that lit ten years ago never died and he misunderstood why she never responded back. He never even looked for her when he returned home in the summers because he figures she's not interested. In Germany, cats everywhere and it served as constant reminder of her. It wasn't' until he realized that she had changed her phone no. during college that was the reason she never got his text, then he decides to let her know he still remembered her; otherwise, what's the point of it.
Quite disappointed with the story & how things are flowing... Plus, this version of ML is a huge simp and NOTHING…
Just because ML has feelings for her does not make him a simp. In the novel, HT actually did something out of character for her too. HT's love for JX in the novel is the same kind of love here in the drama but feelings were fast forwarded to move the plot along, otherwise, if go according to the novel timeline, it will take more than 40 episodes.
Why boyfriend broke up with her. Excerpt from the novel.
Ji Xing is a workaholic and by neglecting their relationship, made her bf realized the sad reality that their relationship can't go on. They blamed themselves.
JX: "Please wait for me. I won't be so busy soon." bf: "I can't be there for you when you need me and disappear when you don't." JX: "I'm sorry. I won't do it again."
bf: "Xing'er, we're no longer part of each other's lives. It's my fault. You couldn't get the investment, you couldn't buy the equipment, you don't understand management, and you encounter various difficulties. But I can't give you anything except useless comfort. I can't just stand by and watch your life without being able to participate. I can't bear the feelings of helplessness. We just have different paths to take. What I want is a plain and simple life, to have enough time to be with my family, to give them enough support and dependence. But I can't give you these things. I'm not the person who can support you anymore. You aspire to achieve your own value, create infinite possibilities, and explore the outermost limits of your life. We just want different things, want to take different paths, so we can't to on like this."
it's amazing how Xu Kai can dub himself 6 months after filming wrapped and he already finished filming another drama and this is very first time doing post-production dubbing. It just blows my mind how that works because how can you remember all the emotions for the lines
