Indeed, I agree. It was an excellent series... but I also felt that the political plot was underwhelming or it…
I think the director is not just hands on but dominating and controlling in every aspect and detail he is the one creating and moderating the emotional impacts through all kinds creative techniques and methods. He obviously has a different kind of background and experience he brings to long form which makes his dramas stand out similar to the director of the The Double but the director of The Double I feel is different from the crowd in that his creativity is more classic art and this director of Pursuit of Jade is different from the crowd in that his creativity is more artsy in flashy way and both try to made scenes addictive to viewers. The director of The Double is hands on but also allow more free rein than this director
How dare ZLH be so pretty and smart and kind? It's not like any of the generals we have seen in the last 5 years…
How is that anyone’s fault if he needs his face to look less round with a wig? That is part of the profession to look a certain way, much like an actor need to lose an accent. It comes with the job.
People are hating ML for being pretty? like in every entertainment industry pretty actresses are romancing ugly…
I’ve never heard of anyone getting criticized for being too good looking, maybe envious, jealous, or hated like if you’re too good looking they think you’re getting by on your looks. But his character in this drama is supposed to be very handsome.
There shouldn’t be a rating until after the drama has aired its finale. This drama would have scored very high anyway but dramas like this gets a benefit while other dramas that carried a low rating from start to finish is at a disadvantage. The ratings before it’s done does influence
wait for 800m. will be released (probably) next month
Hmmm. This “idol drama” term is used so loosely. When it comes to Xu Kai dramas, surprisingly even though he is not the one picking every role due to his agency demands on artists, I find his roles somehow are not what I think of “idol romances”. Even though requirement is romance, his roles go beyond romance, were it not so, his characters would never have stood the test of time among his fanbase. Instead. I find every character despite limited screen time they are rich, complex, and full of layers , emotionally and intellectually, some more than others. Even a youth drama like FIYM, his character is not shallow. Xu Kai has not done those kinds of so called “idol romances”that are super popular or else he managed to take a role and try to make it more. It is the reason Fuca Fuheng became an iconic role. It is because Xu Kai interpretation of the character. Even though his dramas are label as idol romances, his characters are not. He seems to me an actor not pushing himself to ride any wave of popularity but one who wants to pursue characters with substance and he’s already done that but now he wants to do more of it. So I believe he will not lose fans by doing more realistic roles because it had always been his characters that drew his fans to him.
For a drama of this immense popularity, there ought to be a few thousand more user ratings, should be closer to 50% of total watchers. That could swing it one way or other. 37% of currently watching have not completed watching.
Blame MDL. They have own secret algorithms. In the end MDL will always make data patterns fit to the final score so you can’t see evolution. I saw that happened blatantly for a certain dramas my first time I tracked their daily data what little they share. It was so obvious it’s ultimately judged by them just like at work when management puts their own judgments on the forecasts that started out with raw data that is usually overstated by managers. But this dramas will end on very high note no matter what. It is reflected in the reviews mostly excellent.
It’s actually unusual for a very strong rating since day 1 to finale to drop after finale on MDL. On Douban yes it’s common but not MDL when it’s been rock solid. Something up with the ratings. Strong ratings entire airing period are usually stable unlike dramas below 8.5 may still fluctuate.
Why did this drama only score 6.6 on Douban?? I've only seen positive comments about it. I'm on episode 10 and…
Douban opened at strong 6.8. More reviews coming in on MDL here indicating a smaller segment of the audience didn’t like the latter episodes as much as the earlier ones. I have a feeling the MDL score will drop to 9.0 because it should normally be as much as 0.3 below the completed. The currently watching is still higher than the completed which is abnormal for a drama with rating above 8.5 so if will be interesting to see if just a delay or that the score may drop further.
Seriously? he checked if girls are on their periods? But girls and women have periods since dawn of the ages And know how to take care of themselves in that regards.
It’s true. The last ten episodes were total nonsense. The main leads weren’t even together, so I lost interest…
What you said reveal that you don’t need a lot of screen time to make a big impact as long as the character is interesting and the actor can bring it to life in compelling way.
