I think I’m going crazy but do both Changyu and Qianqian have really large eye balls? In the scene where Qianqian…
Tian Xi Wei has super size eyes that then get magnified in close ups. Her last drama the ML asked her why her eyes are so big to which she replied yours are big too. That director told both of them to try not to widen their eyes otherwise it will look strange on screen. I supposed there are advantages and disadvantages to having large eyes.
So what was the ultimate significance of her mother's hair pin? I kept thinking that was goin to turn out to some…
Your instincts are right. These things usually carry significance but not in this drama. They probably couldn’t use it. The story was too busy to fit this in too.
I haven’t seen truly hateful remarks yet I keep seeing comments about hating on the drama. If this is hate, they doing a poor job at it. Given it’s a 9.2 from start to finish, hate had zero impact.
The rating pattern for this drama is not a typical pattern I see on MDL. Most dramas have two patterns. The highly rated like 8.5 and up, I normally see the currently watching is lower than the completed because as the drama approaches finale the currently watching decline as the completed rise to the high score that has been reflected by the high currently watching, and the final score typically as much as .3 below the final score. You would expect most watchers to finish rating as it ends not before. I supposed it’s too early yet to see this pattern but the completed has been rising now at 9.1 with the currently watching that peaked at 9.38 barely declining which is not typical but I supposed MDL had a way to make patterns fit to the final score but in those cases I had always noticed it in the lower rating dramas never in highly rated dramas that the pattern fit later. These patterns I noticed are opposite when the final score is like 8.2 or below where the completed is below the currently watching unable to rise to it. The watchers rating it lower in the end than currently watching for many reasons. Given these normal patterns then for this drama to retain 9.2 MDL predicted the completed should be at 9.2 to 9.5. But with the currently watching already peaked so the completed cannot go above where it’s at now 9.3. I supposed the currently watching, completed and final can all be 9.2 but that is not typical of a drama pattern 8.5 and above especially dramas 8.8 to 9. The normal pattern I would expect for this drama, the currently watching to fall below the 9.2 by now, now that the completed has already risen to 9.1. The few dramas I noticed abnormal patterns are the lower rated and those scores never made sense the way the patterns happened during its airing. Dramas tagged with same high score from start to finish do benefit while those tagged with low score from day 1 to finale don’t benefit.
agree! it needed at least 50 episodes... but in my opinion 60 would be better. there was so much they cut out…
It’s been true. In fact there may be dramas in 2026 exceeds 40 episodes but it still have to approve if so can’t be fillers. They lifted it to ensure historical dramas can create quality dramas. I think it needs to be story not merely for more romance.
To be honest, now that I take the time to rewatch it, the chemistry between YQQ and QM is actually a lot better…
It’s because those two have no inhibitions while the main leads one is sweet and innocent while the other refined. They do things the proper way not as exciting if thrilling for the audience.
Marcus Here featured POJ in his episode today. He noted that Pursuit of Jade has achieved the highest rating on…
I think it’s fabulous if you’re into MDL ratings. When I was new to MDL I too thought it was like some official score only now whatever score a drama gets makes no difference to me whether it’s great or not. But it is very interesting though. I do look at it it tells a lot of interesting info about how people rate but just can’t really use it to compare dramas.
As a dark romance reader, I share the same feeling. But be careful about these comments, some crazy fanatics can't…
I saw a video the second ML he’s getting a lot of attention , his star power just shot up for this role. I think he and the actor who played his brother broke through in this drama more than any other performance of their career but that’s not saying they were better than the leads who already had breakthroughs and also gave amazing performances too. For supporting actor or even a leading actor when they have limited screen time or storyline to me it means their performance had to be more impactful for the character to shine through, that is if when they do.
Finally, i finished the drama. At first i gave it a 10/10, but i think i will review it an 8 now. For me, the…
The second leads the appearances of those two fit so so perfect for their roles. They truly looked their parts for the kind of characters they were playing or else the director is a master at creating appearances that fit the moods , or combination of both. The second couple (few other support characters too but definitely second couple by far) elevated the story by a lot.
Why are people rating drama low i have watched nearly 300 cdramas good bad both ……….this drama is good if…
I’m curious why or how does anyone watch 300 cdramas. It seems like a lot. Just watching one is a lot of effort if you don’t understand Chinese. The subtitles cannot capture everything correctly
