fl and bf 3 yrs were built on blind puppy love. fl has woke up from the puppy love, but bf has not. fl knows their relationship was never built on a solid foundation. bf wants to keep everything the way it was because his family is rich and money is abundant. That's not what fl had in mind in the 3 yrs they were going together. She wanted a meaningful relationship built on teamwork and trust. bf cannot provide it. it won't work.

I think Yueda Group is just a large worldwide corporation ml works for and he wants to climb the corporate ladder for power. His grandma happens to own a very high-end established and reputable luxury hotel inside Shanghai city overseeing the beautiful river. It seems grandma goes there for tea regularly. Her retirement home seems to be walking distance to her hotel. We don't' know what other wealth grandma has but I'm guessing she has more properties too. This hotel is the most precious to her, probably been in the family for generations.
I have no idea how she came into such wealth. I'm guessing its old money passed down from generations on her side. That means YZM is the sole heir since he is her only blood relative as his mother (the grandma's daughter) has passed away when YZM was very young. But YZM has returned to find that grandma cherishes MCH the most, even though grandma loves him too. YZM is very ambitious and lured by power and this hotel can be his stepping stone to a big promotion.

I don't know all her works, but Yang Zi is amazing in this drama, whether her scenes with bf, or mother, or ml. I esp. like her scenes with the bf and the ml. I like the acting of the bf, really excellent. Then I always enjoy watching XK acting style and I love Yang Zi and XK acting scenes together, esp. there were at least couple of very moving scenes, which are different in feeling than scenes with her bf, both are equally good but different moments and different moods. The bf scenes are louder and more dramatic on the surface, the scenes I'm thinking of with YZM were just as intense but more delicate on the surface. It's all good. Lots of good performances in this drama. Another scene I like is the father (he's so perfect for this role everything about him embodies this character perfectly) visiting his stepmother. the scene between those two were amazing because we know these two have a very messy and awkward past with each other that is not explained in the drama. The father's acting, wow, his change of voice when talking with his stepmother there was so much expression and emotions in that voice and his body language wow. I think that father scene, it would help if you understood Mandarin because just reading the subtitles, you won't feel it. I don't' understand Mandarin but I've been around rural Chinese people before.
