The director/writer should come out and explain his logic of designing the story. They didn't even understand what makes dangerous liaisons so interesting. This is not a will they /won't they story and especially when everyone knows the ending. The most important part is definitely the middle and the lead upto the ending. Even in cruel intentions, the ML wanted to find out who badmouthed the fl about him and then he blackmailed some guy to find out the real culprit who was cecile's mother and then he decided to seduce cecile as a revenge/punishment. This ultimately lead to his end.Like even as an amateur can design a better version than this writer

The show was not bad, idea and cinematography were great ,the writing and direction somehow didn't facilitate the chemistry.
son ye jin was the weakest character in this show. Son ye jin could not create any tension and her acting felt lacking energy and urgency(tension). Maybe it's because of the script writing. Anyone who watched " the classic " will know she is amazing at the cute and innocent acting and also that tragic emotional acting but unfortunately dangerous liaisons needed something different from her and her character. She could have been much better in nana's character because that kind of acting suited her more. Ofc nana's face was another problem for a sageuk. Most importantly what was missing was that there needed to be some engaging plot points in the middle episodes. ep 1 and 2 were perfect and even the ending 2 episodes were ok .

Cinematography was amazing. Actors showed why they are A listers. Joseon era nobility was portrayed nicely.
Having said that the writing was not upto mark for such a big project.
1. I can't fathom why lady cho was so toned down. They tried to make her as less evil as possible. When cho won asks her why she needs him to seduce so ok she says " i want a child who looks like you" so in other words her desire came from a place of love and longing rather than hate and spite like in the original movie. I know it's a creative choice but this fundamental change strips away the very thing that makes dangerous liaisons so juicy- all the push and pull, jealousies of the leads. Here it's almost clear from the start that lady cho loves cho won and there was almost no conflict on that.
2. Ahn hui yeon was inadequately written. I didn't see her gradual transformation, she barely talked with cho won but suddenly fell in love. Still there were some moments between them in his house and in the market etc. So it's fine but could have been explored more
3. This is just my view but the ending should have been better. The director wanted to convey that lady cho was too late/ didn't want to leave with cho won and he didn't like hui yeon enough to leave lady cho But was it really enough to justify what cho won did at the end? It's debatable

I have high expectations from this series. I am hoping that the director has not made cho won as a totally superficial and cartoonishly stupid because that will be disappointing. Some humor is fine but there should be depth in his character

Ji chang wook can play any type of character why do they give him the pathetic loser lover type roles!? I know many women love those but I think roles like k2 and suspicious partner where the girl falls first are much better

So the yang energy refill will be very effective if they sleep together..i feel this was very intentional by the writer

I already know some people will watch this expecting some sweet romcom sageuk and get the shock of their lives

Despite what he says ji chang-wook should never stop action completely. Action is his greatest strength. Very few actors are actually good at action.

This will be ji chang wook's first proper red flag character i guess. I am not ready😭
