lmao toilet paper! That's what I felt for You Who Came from the Stars (one of the writer's previous dramas)..
agreed, I actually dropped YWCFTS when it was airing but then I saw the lakorn version so I watched both of them to compare, and ended up liking Nadech Kugimiya over Kim Soo Hyun. 2019 has been the worst drama year for me, except for a few favourites. I forced myself to finish most of those hyped/popular dramas since I liked some but lost interest halfway. It was mostly makjang/revenge dramas that saved me from boredom lol (like The Last Empress, Hua Jai Sila, Golden Garden, Gracious Revenge) reminded me of those early 2010s plots/cliches which I got addicted to. Now this one I was actually looking forward to the second leading actors more than the main couple but it didn't look like they had much screentime...

Interesting. So other k-dramas nowadays don't feel nostalgic/old style?? That may be one of the reasons why I couldn't get into almost all 2019 dramas even though they were popular/highly rated.. but this writer is still a hit or miss for me since I loved LOTBS but was bored with YWCFTS & The Producers (only watched 1 ep of that) but it was funny I felt more motivated to watch the lakorn version of YWCFTS than the original although the length 1 hr 50 min per episode was too long for me. I dropped this one at 5 eps but may try to continue to see what you mean about it giving older k-drama vibes...
lol idk why I laughed at this comment xD well I've only watched 5 eps of this but I couldn't get into the hype over almost all popular/highly rated k-dramas ever since last year..
yeah, for most people (except me) lol I've been immune to almost all those other popular/highly rated 2019 k-dramas too (including Crash Landing on You)..
I just noticed that one of the piano background music in this drama is the same one used in Memories of the Alhambra. lol not a bad drama but I'm feeling bored in the middle episodes...
I've put this on hold since last year. I find this boring compared to the Korean remake (I liked their BGM and cinematography better) but at least I like the FL here better than Go Sung Hee's character lol
there was a bit of romance with Janice and Goo Hae Joon but the drama focused more on the love triangle moments…
I've actually put off watching daily dramas back then but I decided to watch LHW and Shady Mom in Law at the same time with Gracious Revenge. LHW still one of my top favourite makjangs even though some people disliked it, it gave me that same addiction/crack feeling from watching The Last Empress & Hua Jai Sila last year and I rarely get addicted to dramas nowadays. Also, even though there was little romance, Soo Ho/San Ha's scenes were more touching to me than all those other generic rom coms I watched last year, I even rewatched their scenes many times. Another thing I noticed was that LHW, TLE, HJS had excellent/memorable background music which also made me pumped up for the dramas. I loved the intensity and cliffhangers which made me want to watch more of it tbh I don't trust popular/highly rated k-dramas anymore lol I couldn't get into the hype over most of them last year (including The Untamed) and/or even got bored watching them... it feels kinda sad I usually enjoy the ones that no one really talks about or is rated low/disliked by other MDL users ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've heard good comments about "My Father Is Strange" before maybe I will give it a try too. I find it hard to find another addicting makjang like Left-Handed Wife, I miss the thrill/excitement of watching that (was also addicted to Man Who Sets the Table when it was airing) meanwhile I'm bored with other regular airing dramas... although I'm kinda liking that new lakorn Sorn Ngao Ruk, only watched 3 episodes of it so far.

I think I've only watched 2 family dramas (Man Who Sets the Table & My Golden Life) I'm more into the cliche makjang dramas with villains lol but I'll check that one out

yeah I also prefer when 2 MLs are after the FL. This drama seems to be a slow burner though it's getting more interesting now at 50+ eps, this is the only airing kdrama I look forward to right now..
