Late reply but I was addicted to this until the last 4-5 eps so I'll trust your comment and check out those other dramas xD
I loved watching the villains when they introduced Hong Joo to the drama heh I found them more entertaining than the good family lmao

People are free to state what they don't like about the drama but I don't know why they feel the need to compare/mention other dramas here. The latest comment irks me for some reason, as if implying this drama is a waste of time?
I don't really care about ratings, I even started liking some low rated daily makjang dramas since last year. The last airing drama I enjoyed was Zombie Detective but I'd rather it be underrated than overrated.
Looks like we have some similar tastes in dramas. I tried to like Start Up but I also didn't see anything special about it and could care less who the FL ends up with, I prefer the writer's previous dramas with supernatural vibes more. I couldn't get into IONTBO either (not a big fan of Kim Soo Hyun), didn't try IC so I have nothing to say about that one. Hospital Playlist was also boring for me, meanwhile I was addicted to TWOTM. I prefer watching makjangs over slice of life dramas.
I got hooked to the first 2 eps of My Dangerous Wife weeks ago so am waiting to binge it. Lie after Lie was alright but it could've had more potential.

just wanted to say for those who advertise other dramas here when it’s a completely different genre/adds nothing to this drama discussion - I will decide for myself what I want to watch and what’s worth watching for me, got tired of following the hype train of so many highly rated dramas but end up getting disappointed/bored. To quote someone else from another comment section “That's why you can't rely on the ratings alone to find a good drama, trust your instincts, not the rating!”
Now this drama seems slow but then again this is just the introduction since there are so many characters and only 6 eps out (thought I read about a possible season 2 on Soompi forums before this started airing)
Come! Jang Bo Ri (this writer’s older drama) was also meh with the first 4 eps but it was pretty addicting after that.

it's all a matter of preference, like with someone else here advertising Start-up but I find it boring. I couldn't get into many highly rated dramas this year but am always addicted to these cliche makjang/melodramas although I am not completely hooked to this compared to TLE/CJB.. I would actually be more convinced if someone compared this to My Dangerous Wife which has TWOTM vibes and is even remotely similar to the genre/setting.

I think it is trying too hard to be makjang and I don't really care about most of the characters other than Soo Ryun getting revenge, it's like watching a parody of SKY Castle meanwhile TLE was more original and had better background music.
Come! Jang Bo Ri also had a slow start for me I didn't really like the first 4 eps but it was addicting after Oh Yeon Seo showed up. Maybe Penthouse will be more exciting later.

I also liked this drama but the last 4-5 eps were draggy/meh. I am more amused/entertained by the villains than the main family especially when they introduced Hong Joo's character lol
any recommendations for other makjang family dramas with entertaining villains like this one? I've heard of other family dramas but most of them sound like slice of life stuff which bores me.. the other 2 makjang family dramas I was addicted to were Man Who Sets the Table & Come! Jang Bo Ri

I am always curious about low rated dramas especially the makjang/melodrama ones (I even got hooked to Fashion King which is rated 5.7) wonder if I should I try this one? xD

not really about being old since I grew up with old shows anyways but the first few eps didn't really grab my attention compared to FK and I've been watching other dramas instead. I actually read spoilers about FK and Bali's endings before I watched them..

I used to avoid dailies too but started watching them last year, have only completed 6 so far but I am amused/addicted to the makjang ones although the slice of life ones will most likely bore me (like with Ugly Alert, it felt like a drag halfway but managed to finish that recently) on the other hand with makjang dailies I'm always more hooked to the middle/second half as it gets more interesting and those cliffhangers at the end of every episode makes me want to watch more.
I'd want to try Temptation of Wife too but I want to watch the writer's shorter dramas first (have only completed TLE & CJB)

yeah, they are more used to mainstream dramas and I notice makjang dramas are usually rated lower on MDL. I actually miss seeing them lol at least daily dramas still make them

am finally done this drama with the help of the FF button, I'm probably the only one who didn't get the hype over this drama (like with many other popular highly rated dramas that other people think are good but meh for me). Lucky escape for you, I guess xD

Finally done! Am I the only one who didn't get the hype over this drama? I see many people liking this but it just felt average for me (+ re-watching it too? No way man, 1 time watch is enough for me lmao I struggled to finish this the 1st time) and Lawyer Lee was pretty lame as a villain.
Now going back to watching unpopular low rated makjang dramas...

I liked her interactions with Choi Won Young in A Hundred Year's Inheritance, was surprised that they actually got married IRL!

East of Eden was the 2nd k-drama I watched (next to A Thousand Day's Promise) I put Bali on hold, haven't heard of Sad Love Story, I'll check that one out.
