Disgusting, I'm not even talking about the blood

right from the moment the movie starts, even before a scene comes up, they start with the most disgusting chewing sound and it keeps happening all through the 40min I watched.. they keep chewing and slurping so loud while talking I just couldn't take it anymore...
I never got the reason why audio directors choose to do such an uncultured move, it adds nothing to the plot beside showing how disgusting those characters are.. gangs have no manners fine but spare my poor ears...

talking about the plot is was nothing special. non of the reviews make sense but atleast the ratings reflect better. they had nothing but gangsters nagging and being disgusting while the ML and FL brooded over stuff.
it's ironic, I've seen many movies with blood and gore but maybe as I grow up I realize I don't need to to force myself through something added just to look edgy

many movies dealt with it better, they added blood well enough without it being thrown everywhere

now for the only good points, the acting was great on both leads, they had great charisma, sadness with a touch of naiveness from the ML, but I'm assuming he'll avenge the people who killed his sister and niece, and the FL joins him and alot of random shootings will happen, then the evil guy will turn out to be his boss or whatever...
the lighting was also nice but that was it..

this was a total scam! iu is not a main! she only lasted the 1st ten mins, but dang her story was so much better than the whole movie ;(
I can't even say this was "exotic" cuz it was a film, it was just the ml talking to a bunch of random people.... I get the deep meaning of it but sometimes showing by action is so much better than spelling everything out with words, like if they showed us each character's story without any talking it'd have been so much more rich

on the other hand, not only was IU amazing! lol her story surprised me, but the thing she talked about, marrying the guy after 2 months, him dying early, that'd have been so much more engaging.

great characters horrible mystery

I was a huge fan of this but after ep12 I was severely disappointed. if this tried to be more like Nobody Knows (ie if they told us "this is the villain(s), it's not a surprise") then this would've been a 10/10 BUT, it's like the writer was desperate to "outsmart" the viewers, they had so many red herrings (which I didn't mind) and worse the never ending twists that were so predictable..

now to the spoiler part, there was this scene in The Neighborhood where the 3 guys find a mystery novel that didn't have an ending so they went to the writer and he told them "it's the butler" ie the most obvious not obvious answer, and those 3 didn't like it cuz each of them had their own "villain" and by the end they wrote that all 3 villains killed, so basically long story short that's what happened here
Jin Mook was "the butler", though I do admit till his revelation everything was perfect, he was such an obvious "no way it can't be him" that it was a good "twist" but then things started to get messy

now I never suspected our two mains, and I loved how both were the "anti hero" type, it created a beautiful and unique parring (usually it's good cop/bad cop), and those this drama felt perfect but

we go back to the three idiots and the 4th suspected that we end up with 5 people involved in the murder, and 4 atleast personally hurt her, that's TOO MUCH. and zero twist. from the start DongWon kept mentioning all villager names saying who is is it all, and it was all.....
one hurt her, one hit her with his car, another hit her with his car (how many drunk drivers do they need) and the 4th finished it off while the 5th made her son think he killed her while she knew the 1st person was the evil guy...

soo, where did it go wrong? making Joo Won's dad involved so he has a breakdown? making Dong Shik's closest friends involved? killing his sister, "niece" and boss?
I say all of the above. maybe not much of the last part, they had a serial killer, a corrupt cop, a business dude and a politician... and they always had to go out and eat together while nagging on and on and on...
in Nobody Knows there was the big rich evil guy and his minions and it was such a great show. sometimes the chase is better than the revelation

so basically, the writer gets a -10 and the actors saved this drama, I also loved the ost and I never rewatch stuff

tried too hard

this drama tried too hard on three aspects, one it wanted to be "mature", two it wanted a cute "fluffy" romance and three it wanted to pull a move I actually like so I didn't mind xD

one; it's as if cheating and complicated romance makes it more mature. on the other hand this also wanted to show that 30 year olds are still clueless and naive
the thing is, the ML was toxic from the start, he played push and pull with the FL while he was in a relationship. so not only did he keep confusing the FL, he then proceeds to blame her for everything
after she took courage to confess and they spend a night together, he doesn't call! then he goes to her house unannounced and yells at HER for not calling! but even worse after he made her insecure, taken aback, he proceeds to tell her I like you.
that's legit toxic behavior, the problem didn't even start with the fact that he was already dating, he never respected women

after a while they show how all his life girls confessed to him 1st, then he only dated his gf just becasue she was yet another fangirl, so even if their relationship was never serious, it was not an excuse to pursue the FL and confuse her even more while they were "dating"

here the writer wanted that "1st loves don't work out" with a touch of makjang so I actually liked that message xD

the 2nd problem was the second couple, that dude was 21 pretending to be 24 but acted like a 15 year old! I have nothing against age gaps, hani's character too needed a cutie more than a controlling "oppa", but this was a severe case of miscast, I could take his actions, but I could not take the aegyo or the way he talked, I could not believe a 30 year old wants that... there's a difference between age gap and mental gap, they could have a 10 year gap and still match intellectually

the 3rd part was the "2nd lead gets the girl", it's a thing with song jaerim xD I actually not only preferred him, but I'm all on board the "get rid of the jerk ML and choose the sweetie 2ML" :)

a good point would be that this was short but the bad point would be this show repeated scenes way too much ;)

a typical action comedy that was still entertaining. their comedy sense at points reached a childish point, but a few scenes made me laugh alot, my favorite was that redvelvet shirt scene xD

I don't know if it was a pun and he was called yuri or he was indeed also a redvelvet fan that's why he wanted to even the field for a fair battle, xD

the overall background conflict was kinda boring tbh and the fight scenes were meh but it was nice to see KYK do both a comedic role and a somewhat serious one and I think this was the best balancewise from his works, and subin is the perfect actress for a spy genre and they gave her good amount of credit though it seems they'll always make the fl hostage while the ml comes back but still she pulled her own weight and fight scenes well

a sweet twist in a cliche story

I loved their time traveling concept, I don't think anyone did it before, they either travel and become their future/past or they act like different people. but this was a sweet story about self love, forgiveness and dealing with loss, whether it's a family member or a dream

the romance started off as promising but the moment he changed cuz he knew "they met as kids" just ruined it, it took away any chance of development and just jumped into the last stages of "love", honestly even when they stood by each other I never saw them as anything more than sweet friends so I wasn't happy with the abrupt ending

Anthony was useless from start to end, he was such a waste of time, he starts off as a selfish jerk and suddenly he's thrown under a buss by using the current event of "celebrity bullying" and they ended it by ruining his career, making him retire then give up all of his money and opening a restaurant... that's not the answer. he was never in it for the acting so that fact alone makes his arc useless, that whole thing about him "finding" his passion for acting and chasing the writer for his role, all of it was gone
you can't just end it with that. his problem wasn't his past, he was a tiny looser bully that was beaten up by a girl, he was no threat, but worse he grew up and he always disrespected his staff and yet that all just disappeared and then they made the manager just like him. that sort of treatment to the staff is as bad as bullying ;/

anyway, even though KYK was a sweetie, the only good points were the hani's story and the OST.

this took a while to get to the real core of the mystery, I think it was around ep7 when suddenly it picked up and from that point I couldn't miss a single moment that I binged this in 2 days

since the mystery revolved around one big plot as apposed to both The Great Escape and Busted, they had too much empty time where they sat around and talked again and again about their clues and I think that was boring. they did 1 puzzle then talked about it for half an hour
but after the murder happened more and more tension and excitement happened

though to be honest, I'm way better than them xD kim ssam was obviously evil while poor dokgo ssam seemed nice (and totally forgotten! did he die?), and they took too much with some of the clues, like the sleeping gas thing, as soon as I saw the bottles even before knowing the ending I wanted to say "take that with you!", there was a scene like that in TGE and they actually planned ahead, but since most of these ladies never experimented "escape room" variety show (beside Park Ji Yoon, I've missed Crime Scene TT_TT)
and the whole flip switch as well, they just needed to tell jae jae the 8 sets and the 3 outside could've dealt with it by crossing out the ones that didn't match, visuals are easier than listening

they also need to separate them more often, there seemed to be obvious power struggle, bibi and yena felt left out (either the others wouldn't let them or they'd think they're not good enough), but both did pretty well on their own
Park Ji Yoon had more experiment so she tried to go the comedic side more, Jang Do Yeon as well is full on easy going she was ok with being smart or not

though I do wish they'd not use such hightones just to sound younger, we all know they're not teens and that's the funny part, they strained their vocals too much

otherwise Jung Jong Yeon never disappoints and it's always nice to see female centered plots

the thing I appreciated the most was the diversity. they had 2 couple who already knew each other and 2 that "met" as the movie started. one was divorced, one was in an abusive relationship, one left the country cuz of the work stress, one left the country over a heartbreak, one was in a interracial relationship, one was disabled, one was raised outside the country, 2 had stubble❣ and so it gave a nice worldwide view of things.

people are different and that's what makes us all shine.

I didn't appreciate the meeting between Lee Jae Heon and Min Jin Ah, kwriters always think they need to bicker before falling in love and 2 seconds later LJH turned out to be a sweet person. Kang Ji Ho and Lee Hyo Young also started that way but it was more understandable cuz KJH was the "rough" ragged yet clumsy type while LHY was more head strong.

the things I loved
the google translator scene between Chen Du Ling and Yeom Hye Ran xD
the "accidental" eavesdropping between Han Oh Wol and Kim Rae Hwan, kdramas never use eavesdropping for good xD
Han Oh Wol and Kim Rae Hwan was really really sweet I wish it was longer ;(
the ending between Kang Ji Ho and Lee Hyo Young
Kim Kang Woo and Yoo Yeon Seok in stubble❤❤❤❤
the smooth transitions between characters at times, like they all "knew" each other but they weren't friends or anything

the things I didn't like
it had too many couple too little time
some of the "tension" and conflict was boring
the bickering
it was too short ;(

I think the story was really limited, the setting was small (as apposed to My First Client for example) and the progress though uneventful, the ending was not what they wanted it to be.
Park Ha Sun and Ha Yoon Kyung did an amazing job though the little kid didn't have enough force (the kids in Pawn and My First Client were so amazing I was mesmerized by their performance) and I couldn't get that invested.

this is a big issue and a current event in korea, idk if laws are different in each country regarding child abuse, but in beyond the truth they said the law can take away your child even if there was a rumor of mistreatment then you need to prove that you're a good parent, which also seems like a horrible law but here in these korean movies even if there are huge sings of abuse they let them keep the kids! and in the end it results in 2 things, they die or they kill. that's why I didn't think the ending had the impact they wanted. at some scenes the kid seems to be exhibiting psychopathic behavior, even bigger than their line "kids who are abused turn around and abuse other's"

so overall even if the message was heartbreaking and the performance was good, it still felt basic. I couldn't feel the emotinal depth of each fl, or the connection with the kid, so I felt like it was slow but rushed

the biggest WHAT IF

I'm editing this to add: if something is wrong it's better to fix it and show the right thing instead of burying it and everyone involved in criticism. make them be a lesson for the rest. past bullying? let them do community work or a movement against school bullying. "inaccurate" history? force them to show a documentary at the end explaining how things really were. you don't fight a problem by cancelling everyone.... the only thing people will learn from this? don't waste your money and time at making historicals..

I'll just use this space to vent a little more. as a fan of JDY I've been waiting for this since last year. and as a historical fan who's bored of the repetitive palace politics, this was going to be one of the most unique stories. Kingdom explored zombies but this was bigger and had more characters. this combined vampires, zombies and demons. it sounds overboard but the combination was so fitting. they bit people in the neck and they were as brainless and lost as zombies, but they were evil spirits controlled by the biggest demon
this was going to be so much fun!

JDY was Sejong the Great ! I did not know that TT_TT no wonder why he was such a sweetie, honestly if they wanted great representation of the past they had the bestest boy to play their bestest beloved king TT_TT

the biggest mistake on this was the timing and the fact that historicals don't seem to check facts beforehand.. every historical right now is under some sort of fire but this got the biggest blow...

and even if they let the dramas air, they turn their pitchforks onto the actors.. the issue seems so easily avoidable, there needs to be a big historic association so people can check their facts

like we all knew this would be about king Taejong from the start, so like they (whoever they are) could've showed their stance before. if they didn't want a historical figure to be showed as a person who kills possessed people then they shouldn't have let them film it!

it'd have been easily avoided by naming them differently. and they didn't even let them change that. they just attacked this until the canceled 14eps worth of hard work. the actors got injured... we'll never know how they'd have dealt with the process, but the promise of the plot was unique and it will forever be the biggest WHAT IF TT__TT

why do they keep making the same story, WITH THE SAME CAST, over and over and over again!!!!!!!! beside the cold, emotionless, self centered, neat freak jerk ML (the only thing missing is face blindness), kdramas either do a childhood connection or a "enemies to lovers" thing, like sometimes bickering is not cute it just makes my blood boil as a viewer and I already wish they don't end up together.
I've suffered through Sunbae Lipsticks horrible repetition with zero plot worth, I won't suffer here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wanted to watch this for nana but wow that's so boring. like if it was written in 2010s, why won't they even try to modify it to fit 2021?

I mean cliches are fun but if it never went away it's just another boring drama!!!
the ml is SO BAD, beside his monotonal life that doesn't appeal to me whatsoever, this is like the 3rd time Lee Min Ki's been acting as that type of character in a raw, agh I miss his Shut Up: Flower Boy Band role
the fl seems fresh, usually she'd be a crybaby to the jerk, but then it's one of those enemies to lovers thing and they bicker so much it's off putting. which again would be nana's 2nd time as that type of romance
I got curious on the white dude though but the plot doesn't even mention it? anyway this is a drop after the 1st half of ep1

I always say 12ep dramas get less eps for 2 reasons, either the plot needed less time or the writers knew they can't drag it, and this falls in the 2nd category just like most 12epers..

the premise of it was fun, kinda like A Day, The Call and as some say Kairos (though I haven't seen that one), but that's the problem, the last 2 aired very very recently that it's not just similarities but plain old copy+paste

they started off too strong, for 4 eps, every time they changed the past the future changed, and with that they got new threats, but after 4 times one is like stop with the twists, so now from ep5 till 6 it became a boring political talk blah blah, it was so boring I didn't care anymore and their last twist is one of those "no one will see it coming" thing that's way too obvious......

I LOVED Lee Joo Young and the fact that she was a 1st main lead without her needing to be involved in a love line with the ML, but then it's so obvious she's taking back seat while the guy does everything cuz in her time line she can't do anything but investigate
and the fact that the 2 mains are never in the same space together kinda makes their team work flat.

the OST is nice and so is the acting but the writing is so empty I didn't even want to skip or fast forward cuz by the next time the plot is interesting it'd probably be the last ep

A cliche that did well

this felt like the writer opened the "big book of cliche" every writer has and tried to color outside the lines

this was more than "who the ml is", that was never a question, it was just the fans' desire. the true value of this was the metaphor of love. love is a feeling, a relationship needs work

jojo had feelings for sunho but she got too scared, it was overwhelming for her so she ran away, the moment she got the shield her heart felt safe, people didn't have the upper hand on her, they couldn't judge her for her feelings. sunho was burdensome for her

I feel like that's how I usually see the typical "rich guy, poor sad lonely girl" dynamic. sunho was too dominate, he always screamed and demanded attention. he went head 1st without looking at the people around him. he kissed jojo when he knew his best friend liked her, he kissed jojo again when he knew she was dating his ex friend, and he never did that to show his affection, he wanted to see how she'd react

Hye Young was at times too supportive that it was a burden of it's own. he was almost nearing a doormat level, but he also took a step back when he got hurt, and he went after her again becasue he wanted to even when she told him to wait. and I think that balanced him out

to the shallow bitter people, even though sunho wasn't a 1st main, he still had his own love line and I'm happy for that, usually 2nd leads are mistreated..

sunho lost his love become he was too aggressive and he lost his friend becasue he never looked at them, he also lost the only (figuratively) girl that liked him even though he mistreated her too, but I'm so glad he learned that love isn't just a burst of feeling.
love is working for a compromise, love is waiting and understanding, love isn't at 1st sight, love doesn't stay if it's not taken care of.

I'm so sure jojo and sunho would've had a worse ending if they stayed together, he always wanted her attention he didn't try to pay attention to her. she was just something he wanted that was taken away from him...
I also didn't like all the tragic pasts and the parents, but as I said it was as if the writer was working from a book of cliches, that's why s1 sucked xD

anyway I liked this more than the 1st season and I think by now we should learn, kdramas will never stray away from the 1st ml, and Hye Young is the 1st ml

I also liked the length, the ost and the aesthetics. I didn't mind the ep length when the "dragginess" was to show us pretty scenes.

picture perfect couple that should've stayed as a picture

if I start with the good I'll stay they were the perfect couple, well not THE perfect couple, but the perfect visual couple. they were so cute together, they made me wish I was a petite girl in love with a tall guy with broad shoulders
and that was it, they were just so beautiful together, and not to be shallow but their kiss scenes were better than their relationship

the bad? EVERYTHING. everything was a waste of time... every plot was garbage (excuse the language) but I really just couldn't care less about the: crazy CRAZY 2FL that just SCREAMED until my ears bled, she was so crazy she just wanted to force a guy to love her, then they get over it and she's all normal..
the useless spinless 2ML that wasted the FL's time, he was disgusting, and they tried to force us to feel sorry for him, and they added such horrible sob story with his dad, I HATED IT
the useless creepy boss was just so cringy and the older sister was too frozen
the 2nd sister was so dumb and then they pulled a "the dude is gay and is after her husband" as if that's a plot twist ;/
then the sick mom, the abusive dad, the running EVERYTHING was a waste of time

and I even skipped, full on skipped all of that and I still knew what was going on.. this is in no way directed at the actors/actresses but this writer is full on black listed

oh yeah, the only reason I stayed was to hear Won Jin Ah's beautiful deep voice, I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE HER. also the age gap should've been +5, the way they tried to make it a 2 year age gap made zero sense. the ml was too childish and at times the ml was like a mom to him.

I'm dropping this just like how the producers dropped jisoo

1st story wise, tbh beside the FL I think the story was repetitive and the 20eps were pushing it. they kinda just took the usual backstory of the ML and made it the FL's story. SHE was the lost princess with the horrible dad king, there was nothing new, but it gave the FL a chance to be something more than the love interest.

and kim sohyun was the perfect choice I can't imagine someone else as her. but with that I also can't get over jisoo as Dal, I personally HATE actor changes and bellow this part I shall rant in peace so whoever is looking for a fight, or want to twist people's words then please don't read past this

I hate how some people say fans are stupid for being hurt over an actor they never met/that doesn't know they exist, but this is so like what happened in veronica mars s4.
I just loved the characters so much, and I loved the series then they went ahead and stabbed the fans and the other cast with their choices, they sabotaged the true core of veronica and they disregarded one of their most important actors' hard work just for the sake of "suspense" and most probably money..

here, they didn't drop jisoo becasue of his past deeds but they did it for the sake of the ratings and the money. and the rest of the fans of the other cast are so ready to show they never cared for jisoo or anyone beside their favs.
everyone is acting like everything is ok, as if one's hardwork is more than the other

I'm in no way defending jisoo's past actions, but if they really cared for the victim's, they should deal with this in a bigger scale.
you can't fight bullying with bullying and now jisoo is the target for so many people.
some say "deformation" is a huge crime in korea, but as a long time idol fan I've seen so many false rumors regarded as the truth just becasue they were posted online.
just one anonymous post on a shabby site like koreanboo can ruin people's reputation and even if the truth comes out no one cares.

and in turn the idol bullying scene is just as bad as the school bullying which just proves the whole system needs to change. bullying should be a crime with consequences.. and that includes cyber bullying that targets the celebrities.

people need to pay a price and try to work on themselves. I've seen so many ugly things thrown at jisoo, even the actress Park Hye Soo addressed how easily her past got twisted and the ones who bullied her are now back to play the victims.
it's not always the case, I'm not disregarding victims but spreading non proven facts doesn't make it real or ok to share..

anyway, ep7 aired and the 1st thing people care about is rating or how their own favs are doing, so I can't take this double standard bias... they made jisoo the villain that ruined the staffs hard work and now they're working for free

I'm really sad over this, I love both jisoo and sohyun as actors and this was a dream casting for me. no matter what, jisoo has worked hard on his career, he always got side tracked or ended in low projects that this was his big break. and I can't see anyone else pull of Dal like him.
and I'm not hating on the other actor... and I watched part of ep7 but I just can't. it's such a huge difference...
they should've killed him off, I HATE actor changes it just takes away from the character, I even hate anime voice actor changes. it feels unnatural.
and they could've brought the new actor as a new character who is a general in the palace. there could've been so many better solution.
but mostly I wish this was preproduced. as a fan of the characters and the art form my feelings are valid

I hope no one comes at this and attacks me for whatever reason they want to twist this into. be kind and let me vent my valid sadness in peace ;D

I really loved kim sohyun in this, I'll forever keep her as one of my favorite female characters and maybe once things are cleared out and sorted I'll come back and watch this with a lighter heart
