It's actually a lot more sophisticated, well-written and produced than I thought I'd ever see in a 4 ep short drama? Acting is actually so good from both ML and FL, I had to search FL up but I guess she never made it big. Anyways it was really cute and funny at the start before it started turning up a notch in the drama, it was good both ways though.

Highly recommend My Mister, written by same writer and just a masterpiece all around and has the same vibe.

That bad ? I was going to watch it for IU but 👀👀👀
It was mediocre at the start and awful at the end imo. As someone who watched it for IU and dropped it, I think you'll be disappointed. But ig you should watch a couple of episodes since apparently a lot of people do love it, and if you don't like it after the first 3 episodes just know that it gets worse.

Title Start-Up Spoiler
I was so prepared coming in that the SL/KSH wouldn't get the female lead, and I'm honestly someone who usually ends up shipping the main leads anyways so I wasn't too worried. I think I've never gotten SLS before, but this show made it happen. They wrote KSH's character with a beautiful backstory, made him the "good boy" and gave him so much screen time at the start to the point where I couldn't tell he was the SL at all. Then after that the writer just decided to torture him again and again, to the point where the only thing I wanted was for him just to be happy with grandma or something. But no, they decided to make grandma blind just to develop their stupid app that they ended up abandoning to go the Silicon Valley. It didn't help that I major in computer science and some of the technology fluff written in drama were pure nonsense. I would've been fine if they just made second male lead quit after awhile and do something else with his life, but no they had to drag on the romance triangle for 16 episodes. Also all the fist fights were so unrealistic, who really does that as a professional working in tech/business field. As I watched it more and more, I finally get why people were so mad at the ending episodes, I really thought they were exaggerating before watching the show, but I felt angry as the show went on. They also made Nam Do-San our ML so stupid, that it was really hard to root for him and the FL. As someone who has interacted with a lot of ppl in CS, technology, and engineering no one is that stupid in real life. We may be emotionally blunt or bad at socializing (not everyone is), but we have a normal sense of intelligence and common sense. Like he was written with no charisma for the entirety of the show, even his brilliance in math and algorithms weren't displayed properly (I feel like that could have been a selling point of his character?). As for the technology and start-up aspect, they should filmed more scenes with ML building stuff and actually solving problems, but we never show that aspect? Anyways I've never had a show make me hate the writer/production so much, I think the reason is because they made the start so good but ruined it on purpose towards the end. Usually the show is either good throughout, bad throughout, or good at the start and becomes boring. No, this show is super good at the start, and it slowly becomes more and more infuriating. I still gave the show for a 7/10 for the very good first few episodes before the Silicon Valley plotline, and I guess production and acting was great throughout for everyone. I'm done with my rambling, I will never rewatch this show again.

idk why some ppl only rate shows based on the actors and not the actual story/plot of the drama ppl blindinly…
I mean same w/ ppl who give 0/10 because they don't like the actors... wish ppl cared more about how good the drama is not the actors/actress

Imo donations should be done without any pr around them.
I get that it would show that a celebrity is actually donating because they want to help people, but I think overall a lot of celebrities won't donate. Money is money, if celebrities donating for pr is going to actually help people then it's a good thing they care about their image.

I will never understand what is the big deal about this drama. I didn’t drop it only because I was curious to…
It touches on so many different themes. The theme of kids unable to understand their parents, living on when things are very difficult (losing their child), loving yourself first (Geum-myeong and her first ex), etc. I can't believe the only thing you got was a poor mother raising her child in poverty omg.

It's also the highest rated K-drama above all IU and Park Bo Gum's other works and actually all works in general, you'd use common sense to think their fans doesn't have that sort of power. There's also way more famous celebrity pairings and they don't have a 9.3 do they.

I couldn't relate to this drama.I found the overall life philosphy all wrong.I've been thinking what exactly I…
And this is what you got out of it? I'm sorry but where did you find these themes lol, it's insane how people can view a piece of work in very different lights... It could also be different in culture though I guess

Because that's how it was back then in most parts of the world.
I guess it's cuz the kids who are born and alive today needs to accept and heal somehow. I personally feel bitter at things about my childhood (and so does my brother), but I know my parents tried their absolute best in the way they could to give us everything. And I guess even single child's could feel their parents didn't do a good job with them, just because there's always something the parents did wrong.

It turned out to be more of a thriller-comedy movie? I don't watch movies a lot but it reminds me of A Hard Day. It was pretty fun

I think I've watched most of her works too except Bel Ami and only watched half of You're The Best. I don't think her chemistry with her ML's has ever been bad, and I also don't think we can say she doesn't have chemistry with BWS either. But for romcoms, the main selling point is ususually a lot more focused on chemistry, comedy, and maybe looks. I don't think any of the IU pairings with her previous ML's could have been standalone without the good scripts behind all of her previous dramas.

Person Kang Tae Joo
He should play a lead role. Why don't they cast him as one? I'm confused
there's only so many lead roles unfortunately. there's way too many actor/actress deserving of a lead role, only a limited number will get one

It's crazy to insinuate that IU can't act in different genres and roles. She's done well in wide variety of different roles if you actually watched her other works.

I think romcoms require a different set of acting skills, which is to be cute and know how to create chemistry with the other person, I think IU is certainly lacking in that. Although it's hard to completely judge her on a poorly written romcom.

I mean I was only listing the top-notch ones from Netflix only (just to say Netflix didn't do anything bad here), but I get your point.

I think it's the general trend of people with shorter attention spans because of COVID and kids addicted to TikTok growing up plus those who focus only on visuals. It just doesn't promote good script writing anymore. In fact, I think it ruined C-dramas in the same way where I pretty much stopped watching C-dramas after 2020.

I honestly don't think Netflix is at fault, a lot of the best k-dramas after 2020 were produced/invested by Netflix. We have: When Life Gives You Tangerines, The Glory, Squid Game, Move To Heaven, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, etc. People complain about the 12 episode standard Netflix set, but let's be real most of the series where people complain were so bad that 12 episodes were too much. WLGYT which came out in 2025 is an example of a drama where 16 episodes is needed and most episodes served a purpose, and Netflix gave it 16 eps. CTLBT is an example that it was already dragging on at ep 6 I don't think 16 eps would have helped with anything.

It's a wrap on "Can This Love Be Translated "The verdict:1. Too much ingredients and no recipe 2. Back…
I initially gave it a 8.5 but after watching ML's other drama Hometown CCC, I knocked it down to 8. It finally reminded me what a romcom is suppose to be, cute, funny, and mostly filled with wholesome lessons. It reminded me of the days when I would binge watch romcoms and not force myself to finish it. And even if we don't view this as a romcom, it failed in conveying the main message about learning to communicate and everyone speaking their own language. I would say that 1 star absolutely has to go to Alberta, Canada and the beautiful scenery at the different locations and how the first few episodes were very good. Without those things, it's absolutely a 7 star drama.
